I was actually expecting them to finally ban T_D. I gotta give it to them: I never thought they'd try to rot it from within via a hostile takeover. That sort of boldness is suggestive of desperation and given the mistakes the marxists have been making as of late, it shouldn't be wholly surprising.

Actually, I take that back: The left doesn't care about winning or losing. They care only about eradicating their opposition. It was never about "winning in the arena of ideas" with them so much as eliminating wrongthink. The "liberal" label they adopted was only done long enough such that they could shift the Overton window closer toward cultural marxism.
Hence why I think you're absolutely correct. It wasn't ever about banning so much as replacing.
