Look, I get it. 2% mortality isn't really as bas as SARS. But why risk it? Why not implement travel quarantine so some Italian cannot just get on a plane and go to Tenerife or somewhere and infect a bunch of other people, and so on? Is it really too much to ask for?

It's a balancing act, you get to pick economy or health. The reality with Corona virus is far worse than most know, while the CFR is around 2% it's incredibility contagious with a R0 of at least 6.

The right thing to do to protect citizens would be to stop travel, close the borders and start testing aggressively. These actions are well known to control the spread of viruses like this. The downside is this cripples the economy and would crash the markets.

I know in my country (Australia) they have picked the economy as a priority and the USA is doing the same. China did this too and are already trying to get people back in the factories despite the virus still spreading.
