The easiest way to think of it is like having a gate keeper. They act as a middle man for accessing the site, but don't dictate or control anything that happens once you get there.
Now, if you have a bunch of the tech companies shit on you at once (like 8chan), then it can fuck you over pretty badly. But a CDN alone dropping you is fairly easy to bounce back from.

Whats the deal with Cloudflare as a company? I heard they arent too based. Does this give them any power over the site?
