If they removed us from reddit we need to strengthen our borders at all cost so we can have peace and good discussions here. lets show them the communist world they want

Just made the jump myself and surprised to see the shills here already.

They've been here for months... last 24 hours just had a spike, but it's not the first spike and won't be the last. Deport early. Deport often.

That's not really a generally useful solution. Two quick examples: 1) the IP address is part of a pool of addresses used by a corporation, university, VPN provider, or other organization. You ban the troll but you also ban lots of other innocent bystanders. 2) The troll is using Tor and the IP addresses are all over the place for the same person (which can also bring up the collateral damage problem).

Edit: Adding a 3) Unless troll has a static IP address (usually have to pay for it), the troll will eventually roll to another address and someone else will end up with theirs. Again - unintended consequences.

Most bad trolls will be stopped by an IP ban.

So bad trolls pay for static IPAs?

Changing it takes time.
Bad trolls are lazy.

You can change your ip by restarting your router. Thirty seconds.

So you're really okay with banning potentially thousands of people using an IPA to stop one person? That seems like a poor approach. Most of the children I've seen in here over the last few months aren't homeowners or renters with their own internet service...

I see your point.
Build the wall.
Even if it keeps out friendlies.

Yes, they are. We control the servers here.

That's not how the internet works.

Just view those opportunities as batting practice. Get a good grip and swing for the stands. We’re not limited by Reddit’s authoritarian policies, so have fun sending the shills back over the wall.
