Imagine going to the lumber store and being told you can't buy lumber because you're a conservative or have a Trump T shirt on. This is what youtube and google does with their algorithms. So conservatives can't build their houses, schools or feed their family etc. It's unfair trade practices, discrimination pure and simple. The most amazing thing is conservative thought should be the kind of thought which should be encouraged.
...determining that YouTube, which is owned by Google, is not a state actor subject to First Amendment constraints.
I don't know why they thought it was not going to go this way.
Get told "go make your own".. then have your payment processor shut you down.. then your host.. I hope this place is ready for "2016 2.0: The Double Down". This shit is only going to get worse.
Not quite the decision that was made here, apparently.
That would only make them liable for content, not necessarily prevent them from censoring. But that puts pressure on them not to censor in order to be considered a platform again.
Frankly, any platform that censors anything beyond what is actually illegal should be considered a publisher.
Wait....how would calling it a public forum be a “paradigm shift?” Well, since now they’re not a neutral public forum according to the courts, hopefully someone can sue them for the other shit like elsagate.
Well I agree, it's not a public forum. It's a private Marxist shit hole that is protected under the 1st amendment to continue being a Marxist, Nazi, authoritarian, book burning wasteland.
PragerU took the wrong approach. Lawsuits should target the legal protections these shit companies enjoy via platform status. If they are going to selectively ban conservatives, then they are publishers that are legally liable for leftist calls to violence, terrorist organizing, and pedo porn.
The whole reason for being a platform is saying everyone can enjoy the service and if it's used criminally that's not the fault of the provider of the platform. But it changes once the platform starts selectively allowing some people over others to participate
Edit: they also falsely advertise by saying they are a platform and by saying their services are free. You trade all of your personal data for their services. Thats not free.

I hope the need for alternatives dissolves due to an increase in reasonable conversation.

...a publisher, subject to liability for all content published. Boom.

I’m so sick of stupid Bernie ads on YouTube.
Why are you not using adblock plus and ghostery??? I haven't watched an ad on youtube in a fucking DECADE!
