I mean, the economy IS going to tank, China is fucked and like it or not that affects us regardless what happens here. What they are trying to do is frame the narrative that it's Trump's fault. Problem is, they aren't going to win new votes with that retarded argument.

They don't have a strategy, just desperation; They're grabbing at literally anything. When November comes around, the economy will be moving up again and this line of attack will be as forgotten as all other stunts.

My only take away from this is how desperate and hopeless Dems are. Like, to claim Trump has ruined the booming economy requires them to admit how well the economy is doing, and doesn't guarantee anyone listening will agree that Trump is in any way at fault for a virus from fucking China.

Choppa_Pilot 7 points ago +7 / -0

Really, all this does is prove GEOTUS is right about China.

The relationship most countries have isn't just a short-term huge economic risk (supply chain & logistics issues) and long-term economic suicide (industrial espionage and IP theft); it's a massive health risk as well.

Pretty much every weird disease that caused a global panic over the last decade has come from China: SARS, Swine Flu, Bird Flu, and now Coronavirus.

None of the shit you're hearing about the virus is true (but I know you guys already know that). If there was a REAL problem they would be doing everything in their power to downplay it. This is all political at this point.

This is more infectious than SARS, the long incubation period is what makes this virus a bitch. I do expect it to hit the US more so than it already had because of California. That said, it’s still mostly panic, mortality rates are low.

Hopefully the market will bounce back strong after the next few inevitable red days.

Who would've thought that shitting in the streets could lead to a pandemic?

4
Mother_of_gains 4 points ago +4 / -0

In about a month we hit spring, and this shit will be old news.

Gonna wait a few more days and load up on more stock.

Hawkman 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you did end up buying stock remember to average down if it does get lower. But yeah this is a good time to buy stock and long dated calls. I personally picked up some USO calls yesterday. I figure we’re close to a bottom and if somehow we aren’t then I’ll have bigger problems to worry about anyway than what I bought in at.

6
almond_activator 6 points ago +6 / -0

SARS. Look it up youngins

Well, from what I'm seeing, it took about 18 days for WuFlu to reach the same number of people infected that it took SARS its entire 18 month run to infect. I think we might be looking at what everyone was panicked SARS would become.

Remember MERS, the camel-based coronavirus? More people have died of WuFlu in Iran than ever caught MERS to begin with, so you probably don't remember MERS at all.

More people have had WuFlu since it was discovered in December than have had Ebola... since it was discovered in 1979.

The Zika panic from a few years ago - remember it? WuFlu infected more people during the first week in February than Zika did during its entire run.

Don't laugh this off.

But if the Dems are fearmongering so much then why does nobody demand them to postpone or cancel their rallies and Super Tuesday?

They probably should. All we really needed was to lock down international travel to prevent the uncontrolled entry of the virus into these United States.

Instead, we got insufficient "self-quarantines" and half-measures in preventing foreign travel. There's a very real risk that we're looking at a huge number of cases in California anywhere from next Friday (Super Tuesday +3 days) to the 27th (longest reported incubation, 24 days), and a 14-day self-quarantine isn't going to help.

At this point i'm not too worried about the wuflu, but if my city panics, or the stock market tanks in full, I'm not sure I have enough rice and TP saved up yet. Our monthly budget in my household is tight. I've been looking for extra work so we can scrape some more dough together for supplies before people go ape shit.

speaking of which, if we have prayer pedes in da house, I could use prayer power for the safety and health of my ElderPedes, and that I land a really nice PT job...fast.

9
AnastasiusFoct 9 points ago +9 / -0

Prep isn't just having a few bags of supplies around

It's knowing what you're going to do once the 7 day mark passes

Where's your potable water coming from?
Where's your heat coming from?
Where's your waste going to go?
What are you going to do when people you don't know start knocking on your door demanding your supplies? How ready are you to spend more than an hour walking anywhere?
How ready are you to do that while carrying a pack full of supplies?

Prepping is having a bunch of stuff, but also a mindset of thinking out a number of plans ahead of time so that whatever situation arises you can handle it, or at least get started on handling it while you work on a better plan

Even with limited resources having a plan ready to go means you are ahead of everyone else around you, which means you can maximize your opportunity by being able to act quicker

lifeisahologram 9 points ago +9 / -0

Whats confusing is the MSM was downplaying it at first. They said it was all okay nothing was wrong, and if we so much as asked about the virus we were racist!

Then China got caught lying, and Trump banned travel from China, and the MSM was talking about Trump saying he went to far.

Now the MSM is all about that Coronalife, and are blaming Trump for not taking action quick enough, even though he took decisive action quickly by banning travel from China.

4
WhoMurderedSethRich 4 points ago +4 / -0

I agree, it's very confusing.

3
The_kool_mom 3 points ago +3 / -0

Because the left is out of ideas to try to take down GEOTUS and they're making this shit up as they go along. Or, their overlords are, I mean. They're just parrots.

8
kmillz 8 points ago +8 / -0

What do you mean NONE of it? This is a reckless statement to make, at minimum thousands of people are dead. Iran, South Korea and Italy all have hundreds of cases and it is spreading rapidly there. Japan really did shut down their entire school system. This is all true man don't fool people into being careless.

1
lifeisahologram 1 point ago +1 / -0

I feel bad for Japan having so many neighboring governments not taking serious precautions like they are. Just makes their job more difficult.

I don’t know if it was the entirety of Japan’s school system though, was it? I was talking to someone in Japan on Thursday morning and I believe it’s just a lot of Prefectures. Still a massive deal though.

Probably because Rosenstein's sister works at the CDC. Sabotage, lies and panic are all they have left. It's also no coincidence it's leftist shitholes adding to the panic: San Francisco with their state of emergency and Massachusetts with publicizing over 600 "self quarantines", most of which have already been cleared.

That doesn't seem to make sense. An autopsy or CT scan are the only ways to prove a false negative and a false positive would require weeks long observation of the patient to verify.

No way any study like that has happened in the last 2 months.

3
OlLadyPede 3 points ago +4 / -1

If doctors/CDC/university hospitals and all need a full lab test to determine that your illness is officially CORVID-19, what does that really tell you about symptoms, treatment and mortality rate? It's not presenting with unusual symptoms and you're not dropping dead hollywood movie style. Wash your damn hands, boom, you've done more than most of the world in protecting yourself from CORVID

The third theory is that President Trump understands that mass panic is more dangerous in the immediate term than an outbreak, and doesn't want people to lose their minds.

If there's a difference between what people say and what they do, watch what they do.

China says everything's under control, but they're still building those shoddy 'hospitals' everywhere, provinces are still under lockdown, and they're cancelling mass gatherings months in advance.

President Trump says everything's under control, but he's banned flights from China - and, I expect, flights from other nations with an outbreak rather soon. Expect all of Europe to hit the No-Fly-List as soon as Austria, Germany, and France have as many active cases as Italy has right now.

I thinnk you would have to be effin nuts to buy now. market did a freefall 15 min before closing today, tomorrow will be a bloodbath. Its gonna be a fuckin fire sale. But the thing about buying a fire sale, is WAIT until it actually is a screaming bloody fire sale.

JIT hasn't been impacted yet. I saw THREE fluff pieces on auto market doing great in my local paper today... that news hasn't hit yet. LOTS of people still holding, not sure what to do... and they will remain frozen in place until its too late to do shit. Then, they will commit hari kari on the last of their funds. Right now no one knows what the fuck is going on, errybody staring at LaGarde, and LaGarde aint got shit for em. Her and all her buddies have already taken their positions, and to hell with everybody else. She will pretend she is super stressed over it all, but inside she is dancing with glee. This is just the beginning of a tectonic shift in the market. Shit, the Hawaii costco just sold out of TP today. Just wait till errybody's costco is out of TP.

Don't buy till you see the whites of their eyes.

What I wouldn't give to have enough extra to buy when it tanks this time. It will be fucking epic. You play your cards right, you could make your kids RICH after all this is over.

Buckle up, this is gonna get rough, but GOOD TIMES are a'comin. Dis shit abouts ta git good.

3
1BornAgainAmerican 3 points ago +3 / -0

What would you be looking at if you had some spare cash?

6
rooftoptendie 6 points ago +6 / -0

steel, pharma, health care equip, tech hardware and electronics = NON-CHINA. I would be doing research into what are the largest companies that aren't getting screwed rn because they don't rely on JIT. Procter & Gamble (i think) announced last week that they will be fucked for a while while china is down, and THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of their products won't be on the shelves like they used to be for a while. People will be surprised by what is missing, and they will put it together that those products (such as gilette razors) are somehow chinese, when they shouldnt be chinese, because they are marketed deceptively. Theyre going to take a lasting hit, I think, so I'd be looking at competing companies that will fill their market in their wake. Any fucking thing made entirely within NAmer/SAmer. GEOTUS just went to India, and they practically made out. So I'd be looking at companies moving to India, or already in India.

IDK, maybe some other stuff... But I'd start there and look for maybe 5-20 companies you can really get behind, and go for it.

EDIT: i suppose if I was going to just do ONE buy, it would be steel. Hands down.

6
ihatespeech 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's only a matter of time before this country looks like northern Italy.

Unfortunately people go from thinking everything's fine to wrestling each other in the supermarket for the last roll of toilet paper with no in between, so the government has to make sure everyone stays calm to give it more time to prepare.

Rod Rosenstein's sister and the rest of the CDC have shown they aren't above playing politics with this when, an hour after President Trump's speech, they announced the first case of someone being infected in California with no known travel history or contact with other infected people. After that I can't trust them to be looking after this country's best interest.

Did they send out faulty test kits out of incompetence or is this country not going to be able to test for the wuhan virus until mid-march because their intention is to help create mass suffering and death to help their political team?

4
ApocolipticPePe 4 points ago +4 / -0

That’s what I have been trying to explain to people when this happens is going to happen fast - if you wait until you have community transmission being reported it’s highly likely that 100’s - 1000’s of cases are out there untested and with a R0 estimated between 2.2 and 4 it’s easy to see how this thing explodes regionally and is completely outside of our ability to control. I said it before think of this a DDOS attack on our public safety infrastructure things will simply stop functioning because they can not handle the the load.

Keep in mind we have done an amazingly poor job of testing people in this country we have tested fewer individuals then most 3rd world country’s and our initial test kits only worked about 50% of the time.

I am sorry but if you think this is just like the cold or flu we deal with annually you haven’t been paying attention.

https://www.cdc.gov/sars/about/fs-sars.html

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a total of 8,098 people worldwide became sick with SARS during the 2003 outbreak.

China reported 8,000 new WuFlu cases yesterday.

This is not SARS.

4
ApocolipticPePe 4 points ago +4 / -0

SAR, MERS, Bird Flu, Swine Flu - this isn’t like them. Those virus’s were generally hard to pass on to another individual and you had to be showing symptoms to be contagious. The COVID-19 virus is easily passed person to person, has an incubation period of 14 up to 28 days and be transmitted when your seemly totally healthy all this leads to these hockey stick infection rates and broken quarantines.

I’ve been getting a ton of Mike Bloomberg mail (my husband is a dem) and there are so many flat out lies on those flyers it isn’t even funny. Right now out of the 84,000 ish people who have been infected by the virus, about 95% of them live in China. That is about half a tenth of a tenth of percent of their population. Of those infected in Chine, 4% have died. Outside China that rate goes down to 2%. As it stands about half of the people who have been infected have recovered already. 60 cases in the US, no deaths.

Can someone tell me why I should be worried?
