I have seen a large number of voices calling out for the T_D community to stay and fight against the latest admin actions in the past few days. This is a sentiment I have always agreed with in the past, but I have come to the conclusion that it is now the wrong course of action.

I believe that unless the admins back off completely, the remaining mods of T_D must initiate the self destruct sequence. The integrity of the sub and the voice of our movement is at stake. This time it is not by subtle creeping demands for censorship, a further muffling of our collective voice, or an internal coup or mod drama. This time it is an absolute takeover by outside forces coupled with a new policy of punishing community members who do not go along with it.

The admins do not want T_D to outright shut down

In one of his communications regarding the recent actions against T_D, the CEO said:

"Political discussion is an essential part of the reddit community, and we believe it is important that views across the spectrum be represented, including those in support of the President."

This is what they plan to go around telling everyone publicly - "Look at us, we're fostering free speech and political debate!". When in fact, they are doing precisely the opposite. They are subverting free speech, silencing dissent, and trampling on American ideals of political debate.

It has been reported that when the remaining mods shut the sub down, the admins re-opened it.

They want to keep it open so they can claim credit for supporting political diversity while actually perverting the message of the MAGA community. They have all the tools to do this now - their own mods controlling what gets published, and a policy of punishing those in the community who do not up/down vote correctly.

The rest of reddit does not hear T_D

Back in 2016 it was not uncommon for T_D posts to dominate the front page. That's simply no longer possible. T_D had sticky rules changed, was banned from all, then quarantined. As a contrary voice to the echo chambers of reddit, it has been reduced to less than a whisper. Most of the old bots can't even access the sub now.

The truth is, the community will actually be more accessible and less restrained in other venues.

TLDR

So that's my very long-winded opinion. The sub has served its purpose, but it's time to nuke it and move on. We can't negotiate with bad faith actors and we can't allow them to control our message. Re-grouping elsewhere will be more effective, and none of us has to stop using reddit if we want to stay and provide contrary voices.

What do you folks think?

Ignore it completely. They don't have the brains nor the energy to do anything with it. It will die or become a blatantly fake subreddit.

If you want to do anything to reddit learn from the muslims. Outleft everybody, even the very extreme left isn't enough. Make reddit an leftist extremist forum. Be racist to anybody leaving the plantation. Be hateful to anybody not part of the lbqt forum. Notice that I left out the g. Maybe subtly add in the p.

You either be an extreme leftist degenerate communist or you will be attacked.

This is pretty sick and so very true.

I have a number of european acquaintances who insist on debating American politics with me irl. I tried turning the tables on them and calling them racist as a little experiment to give them some perspective. They are not racists but it was so effective and shut them up so completely I just stuck with it.
