This petition clearly states that it's only intent is to make the WH aware of the censorship and hold Reddit accountable for it's recent actions, specifically to The_Donald.
In my opinion I didn't read it as attempting to establish standards or anything resulting in eliminating platforms.
However, I appreciate and respect your opinion and perspective because you made me think.
Holding someone accountable for a deed done is a means of using standards, laws or rules. Which would establish a standard that would have to reflect equality of enforcement across the board.
I am old and seen this backfire too many times on the originators.
It's just my opinion. If you think about the standard you are trying to establish, that each web site afford total freedom of speech regardless of the original intended content, remove the ability to censor or delete posts from opposition, it would maybe force thedonald.win into conforming to the new forced ruling.
This would eliminate the Pro Trump platforms and force all to be multi-party platforms. So I won't sign that petition to relinquish the right to have a pro Trump platform. TRUMP 2020!
thedonald.win isn’t pretending to be anything it’s not though. Reddit is acting like it’s a neutral website that lets people post whatever they want in order for them to not be responsible for what people post. Social media sites either need to be completely neutral or own up to not being completely neutral. Either is fine, but they need to choose.
I agree. I don't think the solution is more government power and oversight but instead for conservatives to create their own infrastructure to compete with the liberal platform. If executive orders or laws are passed regulating the internet today, then those laws or precedents may be used against us when power changes hands. The only solution is less power in government hands and more effort by we, the people.
