Medicare for all will not work in America. Sorry. Healthcare doesn't need to be fixed IMO. I've gotten along just fine my whole life the way it is. You want good health insurance? Get a job that provides it or pay for it on your own. I'm not going to trade my great healthcare for shit healthcare just so a bunch of bums can get theirs for free.
Not really. America has a large population. 330 million, give or take a few. There are also tons of illegal aliens here, which puts a huge damper on not only wages but the cost of healthcare itself. It will be really difficult to implement healthcare for all, especially if you don't want to be taxed to death to achieve it.
That's not a platform item for Trump, so it wont happen.
I'm willing to listen to a actual argument for universal healthcare if (and only if) it provides same level and access of care that we have now. E.g.- no waiting months or years for elective surgery.
I'd also only be willing to listen if there is a legitimate way to pay for it. "Tax the rich" is not that.
Bernie and Warren's plans are shit because they have not been thought through.
Terrible idea. Non discretionary spending is a ticking time bomb. Most of our yearly budget is taken up by non-discretionary spending, which a big part is medicare. Not only is it a bad option, its not really an option at all. Here is the thing, most people are already insured through private plans that work (at least better than medicare for all would). We have approximately 30 million uninsured Americans, at the very least, we know half dropped coverage when the mandatory penalty was decided as not enforced. This leaves approximately 15 million people who want healthcare coverage, but for some reason cannot get it, or chose not to. The solution we used to have was block grants to the states, in which they could establish a health insurance pool. Its not a major task to bring that back, maybe a bit more funding, then we would likely see half the uninsured rate, maybe 7 million. 7 million uninsured is quite acceptable in order to preserve our healthcare system and avoid rationing. So they make it out to be a big problem, but its really not. Medicare for all is about control, not helping people.
is the VA healthcare so great you want to force the whole Country to pay for it?
