I'm conservative.

37 year old professional, wife, kids.

I grew up leaning left (I felt).

I feel like the world has moved so strongly to the left that a position that I felt historically was centre left is now considered far right.

I try to talk to left (really left) leaning people to discuss the world. Interested in potentially being argued one way or the other.

Find that left leaning people / progressives these days have nothing to argue. They just go nuts and say I'm right and you are wrong.

You can logically argue them into a corner and then they just reset and state their original positions.

They have no interest in arguing the core of the issue.

We leave as friends... They don't seem to hate me at the end of it all (mostly)... But I hate them a little more every time. Because they won't even discuss things in a way that doesn't assume their positions are right from the start.

No real point to my post. Other than it gets frustrating.

Anyone else feel this way?

Yeah it's been interesting to see this.

People who just think... Fox news is wrong... They've been telling me this for years.

It's been interesting to see fox news go from establishment media that probably lied historically. To anti establishment media that provides balance and people cannot even accept that they possibly could... Because the real media tells them the truth... And that is that you shouldn't trust fox news.

You shouldn't really be watching any cable news anymore. Fox news is cucked for the most part, it's a subtle subversion but it's there.

Wow. You just said exactly how I feel. I have been talking to my friend about this and lately we both have been saying that because of their unwillingness to think logically it’s really wearing on us and we are slowly starting to hate them more and more. It’s so sad. I used to feel bad for them because they allowed the MSM to brainwash them. Feeling bad turned into me just being angry that the truth is punching them in the face and they are refusing to look at it. So they’re no longer being brainwashed, they are willingly believing a lie. If they are willingly going along with it then they are a terrible person. I don’t like terrible people at all.

I know what I don't know.

They don't know what they don't know... They just know and you are fucken wrong!

Yuri Bezmenov described this as the state of demoralization. They will reject the truth even if it is laid bare before them. I see ample evidence of this just observing Democrats on social media. They post blatantly Fake News and even satire from The Babylon Bee and accept it unquestioningly as true because it confirms and validates their programming, which is all they care about.

The left cannot take you on in any meaningful logical argument because they have unjustifiable twisted values that are deranged and toxic! They are in the weeds with the rest of their cronies feeding off of each others illogical, soulless beliefs and never daring to break out of their cocoon that they made for themselves... I fear most of them cannot be saved as they are too far gone.

But they feel the same way about us. I can't help but feel it's all going to come to a head.

And I feel bad about the lefties... Because I feel the right wingers aren't gonna start the battle. But they'll finish it because they will all be able to agree on how the battle should go. Hahaha

It sucks... I've distanced myself from similar people as I feel they are 'toxic'. We (pedes) argue for individual liberties and freedoms, right of expression, etc. whereas they want to take away rights and force homogeneous groupthink without criticality of thought.

They can still be friends with me (and I still get invited to hang out) as my platform enables their freedoms where theirs seriously restrict mine.

Often times they just parrot headlines.

I'm happy to discuss the issues.

I know that I don't know what I don't know

They don't know that they don't know what they don't know... They just know.

Fucken infuriating.

Yes, when you're trying to talk to the berner who goes on and on about gun violence in the US and how he'd be so much better off in another country thinking they'd pay for everything (has never held down a job in his life) it does get infuriating. Or the coworker who legitimately thinks the stock market is going to crash and never recover because of Drumph, even though they do not participate in trading and have never actively invested. I have so many more examples but you captured it very well in your post!

Yeah exactly...

We should all give our guns to the government because why should you ever not trust the government to look after us.

But I hate Trump and don't trust him as the titular head of the government.

In summary

The government will always be able to protect us and should be trusted fully but I hate the President and don't trust him.

There is a reason we call them NPC's my friend. Here in Canada it's even worse. I got punched in the face from 2 different women on 2 different occasions just because I was saying something they didn't like while trying to have a serious discussion. The left is unsaveable at this point IMO.

I had lots of lefty friends years ago that I could admire for their compassion, even though I found the policies/candidates they supported misguided. But the American left went so far and go so militant in the last decade that those old friends either went Conservative/Libertarian or couldn’t look past my beliefs anymore. But their worldview is a hard one to argue for with facts, scientific or historical. You’re noble to engage them anyway.

Ive noticed they all use the same Dem media talking point without even thinking about it critically.

Recently whenever I stood up to leftists it was "Man, you Trumpies are a cult" or something with the word "cult" in it...which is the exact phrase the media was touting "Trumps base is a cult"

Also the "Violent Trump Supporters"....without taking into account ANY of the left's incidents...all they have to cling to is MUH CHARLOTTSVILLE and MUH MAGA BOMBER...and both of those are sketch as fuck.

Then there are the "Nazi", "Racist", "Fascist", buzzwords that they love to use....with no real examples.

Any leftist that steps inside here and throws bullshit around can be blown out by facts. Same with Twitter. I just don't have the time to go back and forth with some stooge who will end up saying "whatever you fucking Nazi" and blocking me on Twitter.

Yes, and it's not that long ago that it WAS possible to have true discussions on fact-based issues with a liberal. The swiftness with which this engagement disappeared is actually quite frightening.

The last meaningful and fulfilling conversation I had with a leftist was back in 2018. This young tourist from Belgium stopped in to the place I volunteered at that sold patriotic and Trump swag. We had a great, civil discussion about politics in general and specifically about Europe and the USA. He was steeped in the leftist propaganda that permeates Europe but was intellectually curious and active minded. He was quite surprised to learn that we have unemployment, welfare, food stamps, free healthcare, and other such programs here in the USA. We talked for about an hour before I wished him well as he went on his way to continue his vacation, and it really made my day. It was a stark and refreshing change from the Democrats who frequently came in to regurgitate their misleadia talking points and REEEEEEEEE.

I long ago gave up having any meaningful dialogue with Democrats. There is no foundation upon which to have any debate. They are convinced in the truth of things that are objectively, provably false, and vice versa. They have also mostly abandoned all pretense of civility and are demonstrably morally and intellectually bankrupt.

The last political conversation I had with a Democrat involved the Democrat vowing his support for Antifa and punching Nazis. He went on to proclaim that people he disagrees with should be met with physical violence because they are "advocating genocide".

These days I'm content to simply observe them on social media. That way I can get their views and opinions without risk of an emotional outburst or violent confrontation.

You hit the nail on the head. I'm a classical liberal and don't even recognize the Democratic party and leftists any longer.

There is no reasoning with most on the left, they can't even acknowledge the truth that Russia, Russia, Russia is a deep state hoax and truly believe President Trump is a Putin puppet, after over three years and zero evidence.

They literally are NPC puppets watching fake news spout propaganda and have zero critical thinking or the ability to reason with facts and reality. It's like talking to a zombie with decomposed brains.

It's beyond frustrating and IMO getting worse as fake news ratchets up their rhetoric in advance of the next election.

McCarthy was right and look what they did to him. He was the last defense.

If leftists could understand where we're coming from, most of them would join us. They're in a terrible cancerous cult.
