There is another local guy here who has to be in his eighties and wheezes with a death rattle. He spends hours every week sitting on a chair at a major intersection holding a sign that says "Racism is Wrong" on one side and "Bigotry is Bad" on the other. He also participates in the weekly "Defend our Democracy" protests here, where a bunch of similarly angry, miserable old people stand around with Orange Man Bad signs hoping drivers will honk and wave at them. What a sad fucking way to spend your twilight years.
Exactly, or at least enjoying life and making an attempt at being happy and thankful for living to a ripe old age in the greatest country on earth. I can't fathom the hatred, anger, and envy that they must live with every day. Pure misery.
