If they somehow manage to get him into office, he'll open a economic and social crater so deep the Dems credibility would be damaged to an extent where they would probably never recover as a party. Not always good for the other side either. As a collapsed opposition can lead to a complacency in the remaining party where they may not feel pressured anymore to listen to their constituents and they will have even less of a counterweight then they already do to developing corruption.
