Husband and I think the establishment/media bought him out to prevent him stealing moderate votes from Creepy Joe. Now that people know him he will run for senate or governor and for president in 2024.

IAbsolutelyDare 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yep, cutting his losses to run as a Tony Blair style fake centrist in 2024.

BurnedExperiment 3 points ago +3 / -0

Likely a bit of being muscled out and a bit of having a healthy enough delegate count to force a brokered convention.

gprime 2 points ago +2 / -0

It would seem to me that the rationale he's offered is the actual rationale behind his choice, which is that he doesn't want to be part of what causes Sanders to be the nominee. After the SC disaster and Steyer dropping out there, it was prudent to let the non-Bernie lane consolidated to try and stop him. Hell, even if nobody else drops before Super Tuesday, Nate Silver is projecting that this could harm Bernie because Pete's supporters will split and raise multiple candidates over the viability threshold in certain races, further splitting delegates. And that's the sort of outcome that leads to a brokered convention, which is certainly bad for Bernie. Pete understands that Bernie is toxic for both the country and the party, to say nothing of his own ambitions of a cabinet appointment in the extremely unlikely event a Dem prevails in November.

Yuri Besmenov schooled us in the point of all this back in the 1980's. They are no as interested in the office as they are subverting and weakening the nation. Demoralization (1960-2000) followed by Chaos (2001-2008) followed by Normalization (2008-present.) When Obama was president, he kept it hidden. When Pete ran, he openly flaunted it. Same Sanders. He is making socialism normal. Clinton and Biden normalize corruption. Obama normalized lawlessness, On and on it goes.

The president sure doesn't seem to give a damn. If being gay is wrong, then it's evil to be popping out children into poverty because muh be fruitful and multiply

I want Trump to win obviously but Pete would have been the 1st gay president (unless Buchanan was gay). I’m sad that Pete is dropping out ?.

Guys, this isn't something to celebrate. We WANT Bernie to win the nomination because he's unelectable in the general. Even 'moderate' democrats are saying they won't vote for Bernie in the general if he's the nominee.

Buttigeg dropping out doesn't help Bernie's chances of winning the nomination, it hurts them. Because that's one less 'moderate' candidate on the ticket splitting the moderate vote.

Think of it this way: If the primary comes down to say just Bernie and Biden, Biden would probably win because the 'moderate' democrat vote probably outweighs the radical socialist vote.

But if it's Bernie vs Biden vs Buttigeg then that 'moderate' vote gets split between Biden and Buttigeg, meaning neither one of them have enough to beat Bernie.

The wider the field, the better Bernie's chances of winning, ergo the better the chance of a Republican landslide. 'Moderate' dems dropping out is bad because it consolidates the moderate vote behind the remaining 'moderate' candidates, diminishing Bernie's chances of winning (and we want Bernie to win because he and the whole DNC will get blown out in the election if he's the candidate).

The democrat establishment know this, too. So you can be sure they're desperately leaning on these non-Bernie candidates to drop out ASAP so there's just one left who can consolidate all those votes and beat Bernie. The future of their party depends on Bernie not winning this nomination, and not permitting this radical socialist takeover of the DNC to succeed.

(Obviously using the term 'moderate' very loosely here. "Moderate" as in more moderate than Bernie)

1
commies0ride0free 1 point ago +1 / -0

Serious Question,Which is less likely:

That moderate dems would vote for Bernie in the general, or

That the now super Bern outs would vote for Biden?

I had myself convinced that Biden would be the easier candidate to beat in the GE because of how obsessed and rabid Bernie supporters are. I feel like it’s easier for moderate dems to eat socialism than a lot of people think. But I am seriously curious because I can’t see the radicals swinging over to Biden.

Spez: spelling and such
