Okay true, but people need to stop saying this kind of thing. I don't know what to believe as to how far the virus is being hyped, but all the facts say this thing spreads faster than flu and is deadlier when contracted. A little bit of overreaction without panic is a good thing, because if we didn't have people working to keep this in check it would already be a lot worse and would keep going.
Flu has the numbers right now, but only because it's had more time to get out there and we don't do a good job preventing its spread. The Wuhan virus may not become a pandemic but it will outpace the flu if it's given half a chance.
Actual death rate is about .2%, or double the flu. While not insignificant, it is certainly NOT the death sentence that everyone is hyping. Many people who get infected will experience mild to no symptoms and thus will never even get tested.
Was just thinking about this. Plus, any deaths caused by the Coronavirus are deaths that can’t be attributed to the flu. If this virus mutates into a yearly phenomenon, we may see flu numbers drop in exchange for Corona.
Pedes seem to be split between "It's a disaster because China always lies" and "It's a nothing burger because the media always lies".
It's one of those philosophical conundums: when two parties who always lie disagree with each other, which one should you disbelieve the most?
(Personally I disbelieve the media, but I could be wrong.)

I haven't heard any numbers short of 2% from reliable sources, which would put it at 20x the flu.
