The high price is because it's a campaign contribution. This is how campaigns work. It's tough to get people to give money without getting anything directly in return. So they'll sell memorabilia, tickets to events, book signings etc... for a higher price than normal, and the "profit" goes to the campaign. It works better than just saying "donate $50 to me", which many people won't do.
