If we don't have the strength, courage, and conviction to say out loud, "Some people DO belong in prison," then God help our children.

I say there are far too many incarcerated who should have gotten the death penalty a LOOOONG time ago. We need to stop warehousing them at taxpayer expense under the pretense that we can rehabilitate them. And people convicted of financial crimes need to be made to pay restitution, not incarcerated.

2nd chance is one thing...5th, 6th appeal with public defenders and lifetime sentences are another...it’s about balance and the system is more than ‘fair’ to most criminals to the detriment of society.

What he is saying is that bail is made high for the white people who can generally afford it, while bail is set low for the poor black people who could not afford a high bail.

They do this on purpose, to keep the jails from overflowing.

This is true. Spent time volunteering in our local jail, and there is little to no justice to be found. Sentences do not make sense, and all jail does is turn people who screwed up into more hardened and experienced criminals.

If they committed a violent crime, either take them out back and shoot them or kick them out of the country. If not, garnish wages, public whipping, or drop the credit score or something, but jail doesn't work and it's costing the rest of us a lot of money.

We need to be enforcing the laws for violent crimes that create actual victims and stop locking people up for bullshit like weed possession. The majority of the offenses on the books today relate to either something non-violent (like drugs) or some violation of some government regulation somewhere. We need to be focusing on crimes of violence, rape, murder, robbery, theft, illegal immigration, etc.

The left sucks on many things but they do correctly point out that the US has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world, and have had that level for some time. For-profit prisons and a criminal justice system that seems almost designed to encourage recidivism are key factors that drive up incarceration rates

And I'm sure a lot of the criminal apologist fucks are fully aware of this fact.

our "justice" system is soft on murderers, rapists, and violent criminals in general.
