In 2010 Nashville got hit by a massive flood. It caused 2.3 billion dollars in damages which makes it the 25th worst natural disaster the country has ever experienced.
The press didn't cover it. In fact, they were so bad at their coverage that Sheppard Smith, on the following Monday, apologized for Fox News' poor coverage of the event.
I postulate that the reason coverage was so poor is because there was no lawlessness. The was no looting or riots. The community got together, put their work boots on, and just cleaned it up. Nothing more sensational than a bunch of water coming up to the roofs of houses to report.
This disaster is tiny compared to that and it will be cleaned up within 3 months. It's not the first tornado that Nashville and it's suburbs have seen in recent times. It's also not the most powerful the Nashville Metro area has seen in recent times. It is the most deadly though.
A year later, the press barely covered the 2011 Tornado Outbreak that hit most of the South. Reality is, the press has always been the Ivory Tower types that hate self-reliance, which is 95% of the South.
