People forget that "Press" in the first amendment is in reference to the device used to document and distribute peoples voices. It wasn't some group of asshoes with a degree and an access credential. Feels like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and YouTube meet that criteria. In my opinion all that needs to happen is the courts need to rule or legislator explicitly write that any publicly available user created content falls under this protection. If a website wants to allow it's users content to be freely available to anyone then it should be forced to follow these guidelines. At least if it wants to be available within the United States or by US citizens.
