The economic opportunists and thieves fighting their way into Greece (already violent and showing their true colors before even entering the country) piss me off almost as much as leftists. It's good to see Europe finally taking a stand and fighting back. Hopefully Turkey gets fucked with sanctions.
I know this isn't Trump related. Wondering what my fellow Trumpists and conservatives think of the matter.
I don't like using collective or generalizing language. In this particular scenario, I think the majority of the refugees have no interest in becoming European, so its not in Europe's interest to let them in. What does Europe get from it? From my naive eyes it looks like it just leads to divided communities. I think America is a fork in history because its a nation of immigrants and we would do well to welcome in hardworking immigrants from anywhere who will build wealth for themselves and future generations and pledge allegiance to America.
Europe has a deep and rich history that they shouldn't have to feel ashamed of and only told to focus on the negatives. Its easy for nativism to take root in Europe because the Europeans are indigenous to Europe.
I do think that having an immigration system that is in America's interest will help us solve a lot of problems. Highly skilled immigrants can help America excel in sciences and engineering if our own children are falling behind in math which is fucking shameful and we need to fix it.
How about we address our education system, which has become nothing but a communist indoctrination camp?
Sure, US can continue to welcome LEGAL immigrants, with the restrictions against being "a ward of the State," and on a merit basis. But we've got plenty of homegrown talent and labor. We need a full job participation rate first, which is quite different from the unemployment rate.
Oh absolutely, we need to create another wave of entrepreneurship with an emerging industry like space, robotics or energy with new forms of generation and storage. Our unemployment rate may be 3.5%, but our participation rate is still 4% from its maximum and more women are working so it should be much higher. I want to see Affirmative Action abolished and replaced with adversity scores in the interim so I can finally see the left explain to me why Affirmative Action should be based on race rather than adversity. I want to see people highlight and celebrate White business founders the same way we celebrate minority business founders and I want to see a whole new wealth of businesses competing to build the best products or service. I'm not sure what the proper immigration levels will be, but we certainly need an immigration system where newcomers want to become American and leave behind what they were escaping to become American. What's going on in Greece is a travesty and the majority of people rioting at the border are Afghan. What needs to be done is strong Foreign Policy from the EU, fortified borders and started to withdraw from international institutions trying to override the sovereign.
Int'l institutions will "withdraw" from overriding sovereign Nations only when sovereign Nations kick them out! I do believe this is the main focus behind those that voted for Brexit?
Likewise US needs to get UN blue helmets OFF domestic soil entirely, and I'm not the only one here who thinks we should be out of the UN. Some go so far as saying we should be out of NATO, which I'm not totally on board with. Yet. UN constantly thinks itself entitled to strip our National sovereignty, and that's a battle we simply do not need. There may be some halfway measure that works with the UN, which might be worth trying first. However that gets resolved, we could then turn our attention to NATO; I think that's a more sensible approach.
Greece doesn't have nearly so much leverage to negotiate even just with the EU, let alone anyone else.
Affirmative action was a sham from day 1. Why motivate people to underperform? It does exactly what you'd think. We should be encouraging excellence, and raising our young to be heroes.
I saw a recent video of the Greek President at the border with Turkey and he was saying 95% of those attempting to cross the barricades were military age males, and most of those were from Syria. I'm not sure how you could tell if they were from Syria or AF but either way there's a point to be made that they should be fighting for their homeland. I bet the US would be willing to arm them, and probably even provide financing ... and training. Let them deal with Talibs and daesh, bring our boys home!
