That's why they put such a large range on mortality. 0.1% to 7%. It might end up slightly more fatal than the season flu. They don't know. We don't know. Nobody knows for sure.
It might get really bad. Is that fear mongering? No one knows for sure. Even using your graph, if 7% of people die and this thing infects as many people as the seasonal flu, we are looking at millions of deaths. Conversely if 0.1% of the people die and infection rates are contained to current levels, we are looking at thousands only. No one knows. Hope for the best. Prepare for worst.
Here’s the deal. The average person is highly likely to either catch or be exposed to someone with Wuhan flu by the time this thing is over. Many will never even know that they had Wuhan because their symptoms will be fairly mild. The problem comes when we look at this at the macro scale. I’ll explain:
There’s about 330million people living in the United States. Let’s say only 25% of those people catch Wuhan. That’s 82.5million people. If 3% of the people who catch it die from Wuhan or complications from Wuhan symptoms, that’s almost 2.5million people. Bodies stacked like cord wood.
Meanwhile, with 82.5million people in some stage of Wuhan sickness, that’s a lot of critical infrastructure that will be brought to its knees because so many people will be sick and/or in quarantine. Over 30% of patients with Wuhan require hospitalization or some other form of medical attention. Hospitals will be overrun. Shelves may go unstocked. We live in a “just-in-time” economy. Our supply chain is incredibly fragile, and already stressed because our main source of almost everything (communist China) is already basically closed for business. The danger here is actually very real.
You’re probably not gonna die from Wuhan. There’s a good chance you might not ever catch it in the first place. But you will be affected by it. You will be inconvenienced. You will possibly find yourself unemployed for a little while. The economy may become crippled under the weight of this pandemic. This shit is a real problem.
Spez: I just came up with a good analogy for the situation we’re facing while explaining this to a friend of mine. This looming pandemic could very well end up being a natural disaster similar to going through a hurricane (something I’ve experienced several times over the years living in Houston). Just like the vast majority of people in a hurricane don’t die, there’s still some serious bullshit that comes along with it. Everybody might panic buy all the groceries as it starts to look like shit is getting real. Then fuel might be in short supply. Transportation might get fucked up and it could get annoying trying to get around. This will prevent the restocking of empty shelves for a while, so a lot of stuff will be hard to come by. And most places (restaurants, stores, etc.) will be closed anyway because they might be sick or out of products or whatever. Then everyone recovers and it becomes a crazy story.
We’re potentially facing a disaster on a global scale, sure, but as someone who has experienced disasters before, I can assure you it’ll pass. Panic is just pointless and annoying.
Did anyone else see the logarithmic scale on the left for “deadlier”?
If they didn’t do that, the deadliness wouldn’t be nearly as close to the other bad ones, and another hole would be punched into the fear mongering narrative.
I sent Epoch Times an email telling them to stop promoting the Coronavirus hysteria. They did not reply. Their behavior on this news cycle has me questioning their true purpose. They even shared CCP propoganda claiming it was secret documents leaked to them. If that ever happened we know China would have wiped out those responsible. Epoch being Chinese owned would know the risk they would be placing on the individual as well.
This is interesting. I trusted epoch times up until this comment. Didn’t they have their printing press burned down in Hong Kong for being the only media there reporting accurately?
That's the claim but how can we verify it's not a covert propoganda outlet that's been created in the US?
Think about it, MSM in US is fake news. RT and Epoch are owned by Russia and China. They've been building our trust over time with their accuracy. We have to be skeptical of all sources.
Epoch Times is owned by a US citizen of Chinese heritage that's anti-Chinese Communist Party so their conservative bonafides are solid. Don't let the 50 cent army muddle the waters and cast doubt.
They have a good story. Evidently they were a group of people tormented by Communist China who left and created Epoch Times. I believe they have become another instrument for CCP as of late. It's a big bummer because I was really hoping for more. They had done an outstanding job before Coronavirus.
Umm... it's not a hysteria. Epoch Times is run by Chinese exiles and they problem is far worse than anyone can imagine. Stop promoting CCP propaganda laundered through MSM. This virus is SERIOUS!!!
If you're so sure of the odds, why don't you book a flight to Wuhan, Daegu or Lombardy, camp out there for 6 months and report back?
China is censoring the truth and trying to lull Americans into a false sense of security. Unfortunately, even MAGA people are being swindled.
Given your actions the odds are good that you're part of the "50 cent army" influence operation being run out of China. If you're indeed a "50 cent" grunt, here's a word of advice from an American that studied a lot of Chinese -- 回頭是岸. The Chinese Communist Party is DONE, your future paychecks will bounce and anything that the party tells you to do will only harm you and your family. Save yourself and good luck.
Your history on here is promoting fear around the virus. Then you get upset when someone questions the drama. Reply to this comment in 2 weeks. Let's reconnect on this hype
Yes, let's reconnect. Listen, I 100% hope I'm wrong. I just don't want my fellow Americans walking into something unprepared because the Chinese Communist Party is signaling a false "all clear" signal all over the world as a part of their global influence operation. Japan, Italy and Korea are screwed up right now because they followed WHO protocols and didn't ban travel early; the WHO has been bought and paid for by the Chinese.
GEOTUS bought America 4-6 weeks worth of delay by travel banning early -- which MSM lampooned as putting us in the same company as Russia and North Korea. Kim Jong Un is rumored to have sent people to the firing squad for breaking quarantine. Commies know commies best, so that's why Putin and Kim Jong Un took decisive action. In hindsight, GEOTUS' travel ban was absolutely the right move. But we can easily squander the extra time by NOT preparing for the potential shit storm to come -- this is why I'm responding to everyone and anyone downplaying the dangers.
My history is full of coronavirus related topics because I finally made the move during the mod massacre at "spezdit" and coronavirus happens to be the top topic that I have fully looked into post mod massacre.
Honestly we don't know. we have no idea the number of people that are infected therefore we have no idea what the actual case fatality rate is.
It does appear to be higher than the flu. Even if it's 1% that's still almost ten times more deadly than the flu.
It also does seem to be more contagious. I mean I'm more leaning towards thought that this is a man-made item.
I honestly don't know how bad it's going to get. I don't think it's going to really hurt the youth but it's probably going to kill a lot of elderly people.
I'm interested why are governments moving so slow and I wonder reasons.
And look at that estimated range, That is a BIG speculation area. More samples are need. But this fear-mongering shit from tech companies and MSM are overblown. Just practice common sense like any flu season and you will be fine.
Remember swine flu in 2009?
12,000 people died in US
WHERE WAS THE OUTRAGE THEN?
FUCKING FAKE NEWS
I was infected with H1N1 back in 2009. It was the worst flu I've ever had.
I got it after my city created a sanctuary for illegals.

Libs want the economy to crash. AT. All. COSTS.

How do you know it’s owned by Russia and China? I didn’t know that.
Epoch Times is owned by "conservative" chinese group.
RT is owned by a Russian.
Anyone can search ownerships.

Chances of getting it are 1 out of 1.4 million people. Wash your hands. Can someone deport this fear monger'er.

Anyone that is repeating MSM hype (that would be you), is a shill. You're projection attempt is pathetic.
Hello CCP! How's every little commie thing?
If you trust commie-fan-fic you're going to be very, very surprised.
Viruses don't care about partisan politics. The MSM is about to find that out too.

The entire speculation area is worse than seasonal flu, and the bulk of it is worse than swine flu.
Spez: downvotes don’t change facts. It’s your graphic. Just look at it.
No thank you. I prefer other sources. Right now 1 out of 1.4 million are my odds.
Looks like stealth marketing has jumped from Reddit to here.
