Biden buys them until November to delay criminal prosecution. Mueller. Impeachment. Biden. All failures in themselves. All achieved distraction, disinformation, and procedural disruption—for most of Trump’s first term.

At least, they must have two plans in place. We only talk about what happens if he might win. They’ve hedged their bet as soon as they made it. What’s their backup plan for the increasingly likely Biden bust?
Maybe. But does that presume competence that he’s hiding? And that defense won’t protect his son. Or his brother.

What do the people behind him want? What will they do if he loses, after they throw him away when he’s used up? Incompetence could only protect Biden. What will the rest do to protect themselves?
If Biden wins, sure. They rallied around Biden hard for Super Tuesday: 3 other candidates drop out and endorse, full media support, the whole enchilada. But what’s their backup plan if Biden beats Sanders and loses to Trump? How will they protect themselves if/when that happens?
Their backup plan is fully on display in the MSM. To hear them tell it, democracy depends on never ending impeachment. They haven't learned it was an utter failure, which isn't surprising considering they still don't know that they lost the 2016 election.

If you saw what happened with the impeachment proceedings, you saw how big of a show they can put on using that accusation as ammunition (“Trump pressures Ukraine to investigate Biden, his political rival”) regardless of the truth.
It can easily look bad, even if done legally. The media amplifies the projected lie that it’s illegal regardless of law or trial proceedings. So you have to fight that the whole way on too.

So it’s definitely risky and costly. You have to be prepared to legally defend yourself while attacking both politically and legally.
Prosecute outside of election time, and it’s comparably easier, less risky, more likely to succeed. Investigating seems like a gray area. I expect there’s a lot of investigation that can be done without creating exposure to accusations of election interference. I suspect that’s what has been happening and will continue to happen this year.
