We are less woke than most nations, believe me. We aren't told about what "huwite privilege" we have, we have one of the lowest suicide rates and no opioid crisis, but this government is and should disappear.
The situation is actually somewhat out of control. I live in Tuscany, it's not really close to a coronavirus epicentre, but the effects are widespread in all of Italy. Schools are all closed until March 15. The schooling system is in shambles.
It's the government here, actually. The only decent thing our government did is to test everyone and do a huge check on the population, the rest of the handling is a failure.
Tuscany is pretty cool. Wife lived there for a while in Florence. I visited once for only a week but the countryside is beautiful. Hopefully your government can change or get smarter to help appreciate the people as much as the architecture and landscape.
I love Italy and I am happy to hear this. My grandmother spent the last 1/3 of her life in Florence and I spent lots of time there. The only other place in the world as friendly to me was Uruguay, but then Uruguay is full of Italians LOL.
My impression of Italy was that no matter what government they have, they do what they want and ignore who is in charge. Is this accurate? Italy was evidence to me that some level of anarchy works. Also best food ever.
