Escape from New York, and Escape from LA. There were two movies once!

19
Necrovoter 19 points ago +19 / -0

Gavin: "Who are you? Get out of my house now!"

Thief 1: "We're just here for some stuff, no need to be rude to us."

Gavin: "That's my stuff! Put it back!"

Thief 2: "Don't worry we won't take more than $999 worth of stuff per visit each."

Gavin: "This is an outrage!"

Thief 3: "We're going to grab some lunch and come back for more stuff later. Do you want us to bring you anything?"

Gavin: "Am I living in a Monty Python movie? "What the hell, bring me an impossible burger."

Thief 4: "Sure, just hand over your wallet. "

Gavin (hands over wallet, shaking his head)

Thief 4: "Hmm, you carry a lot of cash, here's $73 back to stay under the limit."

Gavin (Glares at his security guards as they stand by and watch.

Security Guard 2: "This is fine."

2014, Prop 47. It also effectively legalized all drugs. ALL drugs. That’s why CA is in the state it is now, overrun with “homeless” which is a soft leftist way of saying “addicts”.

14
Tyrone_biggums 14 points ago +19 / -5

That’s an over simplicaftion. The root of that problem is a combination of the government rendering housing development effectively un-profitable by draconian regulations and very wealthy people driving up housing prices by snatching up housing as a way to preserve wealth against inflation. Portugal, in which drugs actually ARE all decriminalized, does not have such problems compared to San Francisco. Also there is a refusal to forceably remove homeless encampments.

23
booblitchutz 23 points ago +23 / -0

Portugal doesn’t have a narco state on its border pumping drugs over the border, nor does it have a culture of excess that the USA has. You can not compare that tiny country to the USA.

I agree that housing issues are separate but the problems in CA right now all stem from legalized drugs.

3
AmericanPigDog 3 points ago +3 / -0

I love hearing people blame the war on drugs for Mexico's problems and try to relate it to the Mafia and prohibition here. Americans never had a problem with organized crime grabbing busloads of people and making them fight to the death. We never had criminals driving around honking at you repeatedly to see if you'd react just to shoot you dead if you did that was so common it had a name (red light, green light in Mexico). Kidnappings for ransom were never commonplace like they are in Mexico.

The extent to which the people of Mexico embrace that lifestyle is on them. We has a small criminal element. There, nearly everyone knows someone who does shit that is worse than anything we ever had.

Our war on drugs is stupid, but if that's the sole or even primary reason that Mexico is in the state it's in then why isn't America in the same state? White Americans aren't in that state. The only people that act like that are the people who brought it over from Mexico and other shitholes when they came.

"Yeah, I didn't have a lot of opportunities growing up so I HAD to start murdering people for peanuts."

3
Yawnz13 3 points ago +4 / -1

Drugs aren't exactly decriminalized in Portugal either. They'll still throw you in jail if they believe you to be a trafficker and may still fine you for simple possession. Portugal also never really had a drug problem even before they "legalized" drugs, so it's kind of like comparing many European countries (or Australia, Canada, etc.) with the US on mass shootings. Most of those countries didn't have a "problem" (the US doesn't really either, but that's a different story) prior to their post-WW2 gun laws.

http://www.emcdda.europa.eu/countries/drug-reports/2018/portugal/drug-laws-and-drug-law-offences_en

6
AmericanPigDog 6 points ago +6 / -0

The U.S. isn't even top 10 in mass shootings when only compared to Europe. This from 2015 and back so it's probably tilted since then with the Vegas shooting.

snatching up housing as a way to preserve wealth against inflation

Is that what they are doing? I always wondered if I should buy things in case banks goes under, blames everyone else, and the FDIC can't cover anything. Assuming a house can hold it's shady value, that's harder for the banks to steal from you.

2
HrvyWnstnDdntKllHmsf 2 points ago +2 / -0

And then you’ve got the idiots who say “see? The war on drugs didn’t work!”

The US has never had a war on drugs. Singapore has a war on drugs. The Philippines have a war on drugs (and are possibly overdoing it). The US has jack shit.

Yup. Let them learn their lesson about communism. There's an old saying:

By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest. - Confucius

Eventually all small business will close, and it will become a mad max wasteland.

I also don't appreciate this cuck telling Californians to "move", like it's magic soil that created this problem instead of the retarded Democrats who have destroyed the state that conservatives built.

8

Yep because businesses have to recoup the losses from theft, somehow.. pass it on to the paying customer.

0
bitterbut_true 0 points ago +5 / -5

Very creative. ..but these 'poor' are looting businesses; not robbing the worker.

9
deleted 9 points ago +9 / -0
4
Fabius 4 points ago +4 / -0

Thank you!

Exactly man. People don't get this. Every company in existence is propped up and paid for by the customer. Every single salary, expense, and all overhead. Everything. Paid for by the customer. That CEO makes a lot of money? The customer paid him. Jeff Bezos super rich? The customer paid him. Tax corporations? That means tax YOU, the customer.

This is why ALL successful companies are customer focused, first and foremost. The only place where you find shitty customer service are sectors which have a government enforced monopoly through over regulation (Utilities, Internet, Government itself, etc.)

If the government refuses to enforce the law and protect the safety, property, and rights of it's citizens, yet continues to tax them for these fundamental purposes, that government is nothing more than an occupying force.

5
Yawnz13 5 points ago +6 / -1

Yeah man, it's not like "the worker" wouldn't exist or anything without these businesses. Jobs just spring up out of the aether.

Step 1: Business is created with seed money from owner, either from their own pockets or loans.

Step 2: Business hires workers to increase productivity.

Step 3: Business continues to exist due to sale of products produced by workers.

Step 4: Workers are paid out of revenue generated by sale of these products.

Now, if you simply steal the products a business makes, how do the workers get paid? Take from the corporate side? Steal from someone else because you were stolen from? That isn't going to last more than a few paychecks.

1
bitterbut_true 1 point ago +1 / -0

Y got the context of my statement muddled. I was replying to an op who implied that 'the poor' could collect income (i.e taxes) from 'the worker' by looting the business they work for. I disagree. They're not 'collecting' (i.e stealing) from the worker; but the 'work providers'. Anyway its Alice-in-Wonderland--the State decides it won't provide welfare; just let 'the poor' rob other people by de-criminalizing it. If enough of that occurs, of course, there won't be any 'businesses' or 'workers' (i.e employees)

31
raananh 31 points ago +32 / -1

It reminds me once working for a very large fortune 500 company.

They wanted to save money and reduce manpower in in their Accounting/Finance operations.

As you may know, every company has a large army of accountants who spend all their days accounting for any little difference in reports to make sure all the numbers balance.

So, that company decided to ignore any difference of less than $25,000 and, thus, immediately get rid of many accountants.

Guess what happened next?

Yes, you guessed it: a lot accounting reports and balances had differences of less than $25,000 ... which added up to a lot of money unaccounted for.

True story!

It cost them a fortune and they had to hire more people to fix the mass.

Apparently someone tipped off LE and they were right behind them. Approximately 30 police cars. As soon as the "Shoppers" began their spree the cops were right there to arrest them all. This was in the NE. Much fun was had by all.

As soon as I pay for my things the transaction is complete and I now own the products I traded my money for.

Don't show your receipt unless you signed up for a membership where showing your receipt is part of your membership agreement. Don't let them condition you into thinking you must prove you didn't steal something.

We need a wall around that ass backwards state, it's a threat to the rest of the country.

Catch someone with meth, let them go because they will just be out tomorrow, bust an illegal, out next day. Unless someone is basically hammered drunk or has a firearm that’s not registered to them they can not make a proper bust. The amount of theft and drugs that has occurred in my small town the past 5 years is insane.

Nah thats robbery.

It has to be considered "petty theft". If you go into a Walmart and fill up a cart and the items add up to less than $950, even if the cops catch you, is just a slap on the wrist and off you go.

That why several Walmart are no longer open 24 hours, not even in nicer areas. People would just go in around 1am in droves and sack the stores.
