This is why no one wants to be a police officer of any sort here and every branch is always hiring. You apply to protect and serve and you can’t do either. I have friends that are currently trying to leave the state that are sheriffs because they can bust anyone. Catch someone with meth, let them go because they will just be out tomorrow, bust an illegal, out next day. Unless someone is basically hammered drunk or has a firearm that’s not registered to them they can not make a proper bust. The amount of theft and drugs that has occurred in my small town the past 5 years is insane.
I made the mistake and came back for family. I was out and coming back was the worst thing I have ever done in my life. I think about it every day. Worst part was the idea to come back was mine and the wife didn’t want to. So now I feel just terrible. We are saving currently to leave.
