Don't assume. Our dear daughter went down that rabbit hole and she was adored by her father. I think she is mentally ill. She started accusing us of child abuse, it has been traumatic. None of her siblings agree nor does anyone who knows us. She had to find people far away from home to take her seriously. The parents are already hurting plenty. OTOH you are right, she will tell everyone her childhood was terrible and nothing stupid she does is her fault.
