They are making the best of it by eliminating as many enemies of the party as possible. They're going to hurt big time economically, so they're tightening their iron fisted control of the public.

Observing the Chinese opportunistic decisions doesn't mean I'm endorsing their plans to take advantage of the chaos, and they definitely did recognize the opportunity to eliminate internal resistance once shit hit the fan. I also never denied that they hide the severity of the outbreak, and I absolutely mentioned their incompetence when I said the release was likely accidental.

Chinese guy at work from Wuhan said his grandparents disappeared about 5 weeks ago, and now his parents have been incommunicado for about 3 weeks.
And this is person afraid to speak out against his government.
