I am Canadian. I just buried my second friend (52) who died from cancer that took 10 months to diagnose because of health authority policies and wait times for testing/scans.
After constant pain and 8 doctor visits, her nurse daughter finally went with her to an appointment and did a medical summary of all her symptoms that the doctor couldn't fob off. She was diagnosed within two months (still had to wait for a 'rush' scan), with stage 3-4 cancer. The doctor said they are under pressure from the health authority to not request expensive blood assays and procedures unless there is an obvious reason (like family history).
So she had the good luck to have a cancer that gave her symptoms almost immediately and bad luck to have a fast-moving form that the specialist said would have been stage 1-2 if diagnosed in the first 3 months of pain.
i waited 9 months to see a specialist only for him to tell me i needed to see a different specialist first. by the time i actually see the second specialist it will be 7 months then i need to rebook with the first guy. i will either be healed up naturally or dead by then
