It’s my belief they media has been weaponized to actively destroy the economy, using widepsread panic to plunge the market into a major recession. We’re still in good territory as far the DOW goes, but it’s a bear market now.

The amount of fluctuation seems almost forced, and I’m starting to think the media needs to stop reporting this like it’s the fucking Spanish Flu. It’s not a pandemic, more people are diagnosed with the regular flu every year than the coronavirus has been in the past couple months or so. There’s no reason to panic, yet the stock market is dropping like a lead brick. To reiterate what I said a few sentences ago, the media is using this unwarranted widespread panic as a jumping point for their fear-mongering and essentially trying to manipulate the market into tanking. There’s no other sane reason to explain this complete over-reaction reporting.

😱SPANISH flu?! REEEEEEEE RACIST!

Lol... Fun fact, it was only called Spanish Flu because they were neutral during WWI and therefore were the only country actually reporting on it, so it got named after them.

True. It originated in Kansas

What a coincidence! So did I!

I forgot that part of it somehow. Lol

I completely agree. That's why we all need to share this article far and wide, on every platform and subreddit, and in person.

Please share this article everywhere, to do your part to protect the economy from the panic that the leftists are intentionally orchestrating.

Protect the economy, to protect Trumps presidency - to protect America and the world from Marxist insanity taking permanent control.

this means stop publishing stories calling it a "pandemic" I dont care what the WHO or CDC says, putting that in big bold letters in a headline will panic people.
Stop running wall-to-wall coverage all day on the news about it. Only update the public when official word has come from a credible source on status updates. Stop the "panel discussions", "expert analysis" and talking heads. Stop highlighting the number of infected worldwide, or how many have died. It's just going to stoke fears and make people freak out more.
The biggest problem is people are so used to hearing doom and gloom about this virus, that its "only gonna get worse" that they are expecting to hear that, and then that only serves to continue upsetting people.
There shouldnt be a constant act as if "everything is fine" but for fucks sake choose words carefully when you report.

"choose your words carefully"

That's precisely what they're doing. These radical leftist "journalists" are taking the adage seriously that "it's the economy, stupid", and thus are intentionally trying to tank the economy just before the presidential election.

People are absolutely losing their minds over the coronavirus. Goes to show the power the media has over people I guess :/

They're trying to get as much "bang for the buck" as they can out of it because in a few weeks, we'll be moving into spring weather and then summer. The virus will die off and the markets will come roaring back. Oil prices will also go back up to normal levels with summer traveling. Trump knows and right now, it's all about getting the country and our economy through the next few weeks.

"Press needs to be held accountable"

You could have stopped right there doc.

People act like Trump himself was personally responsible for preparing the entire country for a pandemic they themselves were downplaying as soon as Trump started to talk about it and react.

I despise the MSM, WHO, CDC, but the numbers are coming to light outside of China.

Considering the fact that medical experts actually studying this virus, not some talking head who plays a medical expert on TV, have discovered that a large percentage of people are carrying the virus, yet not displaying the symptoms, the actual number of infected people is largely under reported. Thus, the mortality rate is being largely exaggerated, probably on purpose by the media.

Also, since this virus seems to attack the elderly, the numbers from China are not indicitive of the actual threat. You have to remember, the culture in China vs the rest of the world is very different. In China, most households have elderly people, as most families live with their elderly parents and grand parents, something that just does not happen in the rest of the world at ANY percentage like China. So if you come home with the virus in China, congrats, you just infected your grandma. Not so much in the US or other western countries. Lets not even get into the fact that a homeless person in the US has access to healthcare peasents in China can only dream of, and thats a homeless dude. A person in the US with health insurance has access to the best health care in the world, something even a sick person in Italy only dreams of.

...[Dr. Drew] makes the exact same point you make about the inaccurate denominator when calculating the fatality rate...

We don't know the "true denominator" for any flu variant. People go to the hospital when they get REALLY sick, and we calculate mortality rates based on this number. If COVID-19 is killing (conservatively) 10x as many really sick people, it's still significantly more lethal.

Acknowledging that you have incomplete data is the furthest thing from nonsense if you have even the slightest intention of doing accurate, honest data analysis.

Agreed, and that's exactly what's happening. The numbers are still concerning.

The raw data indicates 30x mortality vs. the seasonal flu. The 10x number I gave is our current best estimate accounting for incomplete data. That's not something to be taken lightly, especially when considering the significantly higher transmission rates of this virus vs. SARS and other flu variants.

It’s definitely looking like all those scare videos coming out of China were staged because we aren’t seeing anything like that in North America. Remember just a few weeks ago everyone was saying people were just dropping dead of this in the streets. Where did that FAKE NEWS go? They can’t push it anymore because Americans aren’t seeing their streets littered with corpses. And with each day that goes by, I think the hysteria of this will only become more obvious. The corporate media can only run around shrieking for so long when people aren’t seeing anything in their own lives that matches what they are being told. With Russia Collusion, it made sense, because that’s all espionage stuff that isn’t happening in your local city. But this? This thing has a shelf life. The longer we go without dead bodies in the streets, the less fearful people will be. CoronaVirus may end up being the biggest vaccine against FAKE NEWS yet.

But why are people buying extra toilet paper and water?

2
BlackFlag 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's like Y2K. People are gearing up for the nope-ocalypse, over buying shit they won't need unless western civilization collapses (which if it does, I really don't want to live through that anyway).

Unpopular opinion: Fuck this guy and anyone else who claims to know the long term effects of a virus that appeared out of thin air 3 months ago. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it kills 3% of the global population and leaves 50%+ with permanent lung damage. We don't know. There's valid reason for concern.

These anti-alarmist doctors who know fuck-all about this particular disease are just as bad, if not worse, than the fear mongering media.

EDIT - Feel free to downvote while:

I don't think it needs repeating, but I will anyway. There are qualified professionals on both sides of this debate. Don't be complacent just because one irresponsible twat told you he knows exactly how this plays out.

sun_wolf 2 points ago +3 / -1

“Permanent lung damage” is the latest talking point. Hadn’t heard that before and now it’s everywhere in comment sections. My theory is the globalists are realizing that most people have realized it’s just the flu, so they need to up the ante with something that cannot be easily debunked, yet is lurid enough to create fear. I’m old enough to remember when the main symptom of this so-called CoronaVirus was people dropping dead in the streets. Let’s see some evidence for this “permanent lung damage”. As you point out yourself, it hasn’t even been around long enough to make that claim. And yet, that claim is being made everywhere.

National Geographic is FAKE NEWS. They also think there are 36 genders bud. They are the corporate media. You might as well post a CNN article.

Fair points. We should listen to all qualified doctors. The two in question here don't really contradict each other.

The guy in your video says in terms of lethality when contracted, it goes:

Flu < Coronavirus << SARS

And he says in terms of how well each spreads, it's basically opposite:

SARS < Coronavirus << Flu

The doctor in my original post points out that 20x more people have died of the Flu this season. That's because huge numbers of people get it.

Coronavirus is moderately lethal, and moderately good at spreading.

So overall it seems to be about equally concerning as SARS. The media discussed SARS a lot, but nowhere near as much or as "sky is falling" as they are with the coronavirus.
