Stop running wall-to-wall coverage all day on the news about it. Only update the public when official word has come from a credible source on status updates. Stop the "panel discussions", "expert analysis" and talking heads. Stop highlighting the number of infected worldwide, or how many have died. It's just going to stoke fears and make people freak out more.
The biggest problem is people are so used to hearing doom and gloom about this virus, that its "only gonna get worse" that they are expecting to hear that, and then that only serves to continue upsetting people.
