The guy in your video says in terms of lethality when contracted, it goes:
Flu < Coronavirus << SARS
And he says in terms of how well each spreads, it's basically opposite:
SARS < Coronavirus << Flu
The doctor in my original post points out that 20x more people have died of the Flu this season. That's because huge numbers of people get it.
Coronavirus is moderately lethal, and moderately good at spreading.
So overall it seems to be about equally concerning as SARS. The media discussed SARS a lot, but nowhere near as much or as "sky is falling" as they are with the coronavirus.
