I am relatively new to Reddit and cruising around the Libertarian stuff, which is quite stiff. I even managed to get myself banned on one of them meant for memes, for pointing out issues with illegal immigration. I guess some of these self-proclaimed Libertarians are slightly... how would you say it... retarded. Playing into the hands of socialists with their moronic open borders crap while enacting authoritarian moderation (I was called a Nazi of course and referred to T_D... at that time I didn't know what it meant, but well, here I am).
Anyway, this not-really-reddit section is gloriously funny.
The Libertarian Party had gone off a leftists cliff. In the past, the party was split about borders / free movement of people. That being said, even if you were for open borders, it was always understood that could only happen once we ended the welfare state. Now the LP is full on open borders nonsense. They basically went left in an attempt to cater, and it was a terrible move. I left the party and registered Republican.
Yes, exactly! If you want open borders - first abolish Socialism entirely. Very simple stuff. Talking about a "free society" I'd leave the borders intact to the very last.
Not only that, I even see how they ponder to vote for Biden. And I see them shredding Trump viciously. To some degree fair enough, some things are bad, but most things are positive - and let's not forget the flood of leftist tears - that alone is worth everything. But it's on a TDS level almost, and they don't seem to understand more vs less Libertarianism, or the cultural war going on.
I think you are right about trying to cater to the left, trying to appease them and virtue signal how good they are. It's devil's pact - endorse open borders (which btw, as it currently is, would be a huge government program, not the reduction of it), say Orange Man Bad (because oh wonder, as someone who is in charge of the government does government stuff), and we don't call you racist.
And did they look at the alternative actually? The Democrats went full retard, every single one of them drifted FAR left, deep into Socialist territory. Even considering to endorse any of these people is inexcusable treason to Libertarian values. It's self-sabotaging - they can't have open borders AND free market like that. And if Libertarians are not more offensive to the left than Conservatives are - they are doing something very wrong.
Anyway, as of me (I am Hungarian/German), I will never ever in my life vote anything Socialist or left - and I can proudly say I never did. But I would vote Trump if I were an American. Sorry for the long rant though.
