'buy american' is a blast from the past. in my blue collar town that was a common sentiment when our jobs were disappearing and wal-marts were popping up everywhere. obviously didn't stop the onslaught of cheap chinese goods that people like Biden were pumping into our country then, but it sure is nice to hear it again.

Literally had china on 80 percent of the good. Walmart saw the move and built his stores on cheap Chinese shit. Which if we had an good economy and good jobs here we wouldn't need cheap shit

Walmart didn't become Walmart based upon Chinese goods, not at all. Walmart was actually a hold out among retailers when it comes to Chinese goods. Remember Walmart was already Walmart, as in a Goliath, king of retail - long before Chinese manufacturing became central to production. Walmart had a big "Made In the USA" labeling program for years and years - and pushed their buyers to lean towards US made products. Alas that day has long since ended.

Sadly, Sam Walton's vision didn't stick with his children.

What was that quote I see attributed to the sheik? "My grandfather rode a camel, I drive a Toyota, my son drives a Ferrari, his son will drive a Toyota, his son will ride a camel

We didn't need cheap Chinese shit because we had a ban economy/no jobs, we got cheap shit because that's what the general public wanted.
