The top Coronavirus sub on Reddit had been co-opted, taken overl by two groups. One is those who are freaking the fuck out. I've seen folks suggesting the US close all restaurants. Ignoring the fact that industry feeds tens of millions in the people in the US every day - and closing all restaurants with mean grocery stores wouldn't have enough food to feed everybody. The response? Fuck it. We are scared, do shit!

Then the other group, who is very loud, have proclaimed that the entire pandemic is Trump's fault. They're absolutely come a positively trying to make political hay out of this. The ongoing mantra is that when this first popped up come at the United States should have distributed hundreds of millions of test kits - and that not happening is Trump's fault. Ignoring that the virus test, isn't a true kit. and the fact that the tests requires follow-up tests kind of because it's not very accurate. And we have nowhere on planet Earth set up to produce enough. No matter what happens, or doesn't happen, it's Trump's fault. And the people with the political bent, are managing to stoke the fire of the people who are freaking the fuck out - making them freak out even more. And it's people forgot more, they are easy pickings to be convinced that it's all Trump's fault.

Fucking lunacy

I have a feeling this may prove to be a tactical mistake that very well could backfire politically. Coronavirus is already winding down in China. Today there are 14,801 active cases in China, and yesterday there were 16,136. The number of active cases has been dropping like that for over three weeks, and the number of daily new cases has been stable in the mid-to-low double digits.

Barring any unforeseen events (I can't claim to predict the future), the numbers indicate China should be free of Coronavirus in less than a month. If you consider that the first reported case in the US appeared 6-7 weeks after China, that would suggest that we should be through this by early June (which is a full month and a half before the Democratic National Convention).

So, if that's how things end up panning out (again, I can't predict the future... maybe this turns out to be the literal apocalypse, but I somehow doubt it), then those making political hay now are likely to end up with egg on their face, and Trump will be able to claim this pandemic as a victory. But who knows... nothing's guaranteed.

It is sickening. They literally downvote comments debunking their claims. Such as they claim that Trump cut the CDC budget, when he did not. The nuance is that he proposed cuts, but like many budget proposals... you propose some cuts that won't go through in exchange for other cuts that will go through when you drop some of your demands.
