I agree. Globalists have thoroughly demonized the word, and will call you a xenophobe for supporting it, but to me, isolationism actually sounds like a good idea. I'm not saying don't do business with the rest of the world, we can always sell them some of our surplus, but being dependent on other nations for anything is not a good situation to be in. Especially if those other nations are communist dictatorships with millions of people in concentration camps performing slave labor, and evil stuff like 'sesame scores' for their people who are allowed some "free" movement. China is hell on earth, but with a few shiny new buildings and bridges that American sellouts built for them.
There are problems with that idea. Mainly, that we have gotten away from making anything and are reliant on the rest of the world to manufacture our goods. Take our electric grid as an example: a good burp from the Sun headed in our direction would leave us unable to rebuild a single one of our biggest transformers. World capacity would take 10 years to build what we need. They surely wouldn't sell us everything they can make, so we'd be 'in the stoneage' for longer. How much would they charge us? Would they sell us any at all? Who would conquer us in the meantime?
This is an existential threat, and it wouldn't even cost that much to 'harden' these components against EMP, from any source.
Of course we should be the world leader in manufacturing.
So is Bernie and it's interesting that he thinks China has lited so may out of poverty. Yeah with our money, our jobs, and our technology. And what good has that prosperity done for anybody? Just made pollution even worse for the entire world.
