Y2K was predicted to pretty much collapse all economies and cause widespread famine and suffering.

You're welcome jerk.

You sound like an ignorant of the world leftist. Thousands of IT professional worked double and triple shifts for months to make sure shit went smoothly.

So, it goes smoothly... oh Y2k was just a hoax.

To be honest at this point and time, I wish I hadn't done all that work, and chaos ensued.

You misunderstand. I never said Y2K is a HOAX. But it was overblown to become the end-all of everything and life on earth. I work in engineering and had to do fixes to customers things to mitigate problems. Some times it was just telling them that there wouldn't be problems, and continually reassuring them it wouldn't cause the end of the world (managers in most cases don't have any kind of technology clue). Doing that takes a cool, logical head, a plan, and steady approach. But people freaking the hell out over every little thing was beyond realistic and the media predicted ultimate calamity. People were hoarding all sorts of stuff. I tried to explain it won't be that big a deal, its under control, but many didn't listen. It's similar today. Cool heads prevail. Crazy fear mongering doesn't do shit.

Yeah, Y2K turned out to be a nothingburger because of PEOPLE LIKE YOU - and I thank you for that!
