The American people aren't on board with this panic, and aren't on board with the over the top measures that are totally unnecessary and make NO SENSE considering the numbers that we observe. Media is acting as if everyone is on board with this stuff... but they aren't.

Shutting down travel temporarily and encouraging good/better hygiene - I'm all for it.

Stocking up on toilet paper (of all things...), the stock market mania, and the local/regional Pandemic Madagascar meme responses to SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHING. - doesn't make a lick of fucking sense.

Case in point: NOLA shut down its St. Patrick's Day parade originally scheduled for this weekend... but they're not going to close off Bourbon Street, a place notorious for people drinking, carousing, and openly spewing various bodily fluids which increases the likelihood of spreading disease, are they?

Sensibility is one thing, and a damn good thing, but without cool heads and common sense, the sky might as well be falling.

Governor of Ohio just today banned gatherings of 100+ people... then immediately tweeted out exceptions saying the ban doesn't cover schools, restaurants, theatres, free speech gatherings, churches, and on and on.

What an idiot.

I think it's fine if governments want to give public announcements about hygiene, ways to boost immune system, making suggestions about whether they think it's a good idea for certain public gatherings, cancelling government run public events etc.

I think it's NOT OK to lock down entire neighborhoods or cities with military or police and not let people leave to take care of whatever business they need to or to force medicate people against their will or completely ban gatherings etc.

If the panic causes a cultural shift to cause people to make sure they always have reserve supplies on hand and causes the public in general to have better hygiene and stay home when they are sick, that could be a good thing.

If it causes people to accept government overstepping its bounds and submitting to constant rights violations, that's a bad thing.

How else would you cancel a Trump Ralley?

I hope to God he doesn't cancel rallies.... no reason to.

What I see on TV doesn't match what I see when I'm out and about. The BBQ joint was just as busy as ever. I was expecting a ghost town based on the nightly news.

Were you at the same barbecue place I was? And everybody was praising Trump and rooting for the media to get the damned virus.

My son works in a hotel and their bookings are down about 80% and hours are being cut. Travel is getting hit hard.

It's uncertainty. I think it will bounce back by end of May at latest. I am thinking of making our summer vacation plans now because we might get a big discount.

Why are the Dems blaming Trump for the testing kits? I am confused by this. How is this his fault? It seems to be their main talking point. Do people think that you should just be able to go into CVS and just get tested? If this were the case, you would have wackos going in every day.

Just carry on and talk to your friends and family. Stay strong friends!

In my daily travels most talk about this is pretty much where you're at. I think Trump banned travel from Europe to both appease the people screeching for drastic measures and dare them to complain.

The media always acts like everyone is on board with everything they say.

Even my progtard coworkers all say this is all bullshit.

I am seeing the same thing. The people who always panic are panicking, everyone else wants to go about their business as usual

I live near Omaha and they just cancelled the freaking college world series. So many businesses will be hurt by this and it's just silly to go that far this early.

So what, some people are gonna get the Chinaman flu and not feel good, so we cancel hundreds of millions of activities just for fun? They're gonna actually crash the economy doing this

Nah honestly it could be bad but I will say I'm proud of everyone being a little cautious and washing their hands a little more.

6
HeavenlyTrumpets [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yeah that's fine but shutting everything down is fucking retarted.

There hasn't been any over the top measures in the US? Is he talking about China nailing doors shut with 2x4s?
