The fundamentals aren't being changed. As soon as the panic is over it will just go up again and they will start saying its an "oBaMa" economy again.

Yeah. It will certainly bounce back. The only question is how far they can tank it and how long they can tank it before it does.

TBH it might have been a good idea to freeze trading, since these morons are all hysterical. It seems very self-perpetuating:

News: "CORONAVIRUS 24/7 COVERAGE!!!"

Stock market dips

News: "CORONAVIRUS IS KILLING PEOPLE!!!"

Stock market falls further

News: "CORONAVIRUS SPREADING AROUND THE WORLD!!! EVERYONE IS IN JEOPARDY!!!"

Stock market takes a huge hit

News: "OIL TRADE WAR! CORONAVIRUS CAUSING MARKET COLLAPSE! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!"

Stock market continues to tank

News: "STOCK MARKET IN FREE FALL! CORONAVIRUS CAN'T BE STOPPED!!!"

Stock market plummets

Basically don't get cut trying to catch a falling knife.

That’s why you don’t buy until it stops dipping. Corona virus isn’t going to last too long.

This is terrible advice. No one listen to this guy. You can not time the market. It is damn near impossible. The smart thing to do is the opposite of what the trend is. Keep buying the dip. If I had $100,000 I would put it into the market now. All of my extra money is already in the market so I can’t do much.

The trends are what I was talking about. The stock market is, by nature, unpredictable. The current trend is downwards, when it seems like it can't go lower and wont dip anymore, or we start hearing positive news (fix for corona, tax cuts, etc) then thats a good time to think about investing. Also an important disclaimer, what works for some people may not work for others.

I honestly only care about the short term stock market because of its ability to affect elections. I am more concerned with oversteps of officials unilaterally making huge decisions that affect everyone's lives, and not necessarily with the support of the population / public. (I really have serious doubts that most of the public is on board with the level of panic that we're seeing from "decision makers"... toilet paper runs notwithstanding.)

The corona virus isn't going to last. We are in the latter half of the flu season. Once flu season ends cases will start dropping. Then the media will find a new shiny object.

I know that. This disturbs me though. This is truly unprecedented. It is very concerning if we as a society allow the overstepping of reasonable authority that we're seeing now... to go on.

It goes to show you how susceptible the nation is to propaganda and manufactured panic/outrage. We literally have this happening each year with the flu.

Here is an historical overstepping of reasonable authority for YOU to look up; Take a look at "Saint" Abe Lincoln and his illegal & unconstitutional actions just before the war. Then add the ones after, and toss in making war on US citizens to keep the early DC power structure in place. "Yes, Virginia', its NOT the Lincoln of Carl Sandburg".

They aren't even talking about the flu. The fatalities from the flu would be about 100x higher and nobody would care because, hey.. it's only the flu.
