.... not cause I'm scared of crowds or of the virus... just scared of hordes of idiots panicking and believing all the doom and gloom.... and cleaning out the grocery store. Some of you may say this is the same as being doom and gloom myself, but I don't really think it is. There are the doomers who literally believe all the completely manufactured and illogical fear and fake mortality rates and think this virus is the end of the world.... they now go out and start cleaning everything out like a bunch of little robots. That leaves us normal people who know this is all fucking bullshit in a tough spot.... we have to play along, or risk the chance that these idiots will clean out all the decent food.
In conclusion, I hate our media. There are very literally our enemy.
This is where government needs to ALLOW price gouging. If TP is $20 a roll are you gonna buy one or two packs - thereby allowing everybody to buy one to last until the crisis passes - or are you gonna spend a fortune on a palletful when it’s gonna go back on sale for $1 a roll ten days from now. It’s the same thing with gasoline, if a hurricane is coming your way and gas goes to $25/gallon, are you going to fill your tank or just get enough to get you outside the area and fill up there on $2/gal gas?
In the absence of rationing, price gouging is letting the free market allocate scarce resources in the most efficient manner.
You do because of the hordes of idiots.
My wife and I went and bought some extra TP not because we think that's going to save us or that there will be a legitimate shortage but because every one was acting like TP was going to be the new currency after the apocalypse and we were running low.
That's mostly true, for now. I could see that changing soon though.
Yeah I did that too. Just doing a little more now.
Yea, I'm on my last roll of TP and I have to go hunt for some after work today.
If I were going, I'd go now while people are at work. I wouldnt waste time fighting crowds tomorrow.
I go every Friday morning for family snacks and movie night. Lots of shelves looking thin. Canned meat pretty much gone. Toilet paper gone but wet wipes still available (prefer anyway) and napkins available. So yeah stores running out is the main problem we’ll have IMO. Three years ago I went through my patriot supply and got over 6 months of food for a family of five. I did that after I got debt free when I paid my house off cause it is expensive but now I have no worries. Anything lasting over 6 months I hope happens after the rapture lol.
I did my shopping yesterday, just the normal grocery list, nothing special at all. I don't think I need to increase my supply of anything. I'm just going on my "old lady's intuition", which never lets me down.
Got some nice corned beef and cabbage too!
Yup, you are not being an idiot. I hate drinking tap water, I drink bottled water, even filtered tap water tastes like shit around here. For the last week, no water on the shelves. I stocked up some, but now I see not nearly enough. I should have bought 1000 bottles, likely wont see it for weeks. I have workarounds, but had I have seen that coming, would have been easier to buy every bottle of water I could get my hands on, I am going to use it eventually.
It's not too late where I am. I also did some "prep" back in January, when we really had no idea what this thing was or how bad it was. Back then it was easy to get some things because only the "crazies" (people who don't swallow what the media feeds them) were thinking of doing it. Now the tables have flipped. I think I should replenish some things because people are starting to believe in a crisis that (I think) isn't going to happen.
