This was a big day for the national psyche. We were either going to continue the panicked race to the bottom, or cooler heads were going to prevail.

Coronavirus cases will continue to spread. That's what a flu does, after all. But if the spread continues to be as slow and mild as it has been, everything will be fine.

God bless our president. I can't imagine the stress he's under. I will walk over fucking broken glass in November to vote for him.

Doesn't have to be steel toe. My Timberland Pro's have composite toe. Just as strong but lighter. Trust me. It's better in every way.

Not to be a dick, but I just wanted to point this out in case some people take your comment seriously:

As many voting areas are in schools, carrying a firearm on that property is against federal law. Again, not to be a dick, but I just want us all to do the right thing and be safe.

edit: it's illegal if the voting area is on school property... I'm not sure about other voting locations.

The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA) is a United States federal law, enacted in 2004, that allows two classes of persons - the "qualified Law Enforcement officer" and the "qualified retired or separated Law Enforcement officer" - to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the United States or United States Territories, regardless of state or local laws, with certain exceptions. https://leosaonline.com/

Twatter is reeeeeeeeing about the CEO's being there. I thought it was an excellent choice as well as the medical professionals. The virus will cycle, sadly a few more will die but not as many since the best measures have and will be taken. Keeping the ER clear for real emergencies and making sure our elderly are priority is the best step forward.

Yes. They also loathe success and people who succeed. It's brilliant that Trump included these business guys, medical professionals, all of them, as they are all partners in this great effort to stem and squash this (foreign born) flu.

My local ER was already clogged up before this coronavirus, full of illegals with no insurance who get help for free, where say joe the plumber gets helped but then gets a 10k bill in the mail.

Hong Kong stopped a lot of the non-sense at the border. I imagine they are even more draconian then they stated.

South Korea went door to door and forced testing/quarantine on everyone. No fucks given. Their population is minuscule compared to ours and such an action is feasible.

Salty ass people over at reddit are bitching about how Trump is "working with greedy corporations for the sake of the stock market".

Bitches, shut up. Even if that was the main reason, which I doubt it is, its still a good plan overall. Enlisting the help of the private sector to cooperate with the public sector to help both the people and the economy. A good efficient streamlined approach that uses whats available.

Anyone who lived under communism understands what he is all about.

2
RedditIs4Retards 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yup my parents had to run from communism, literally ran from Romania. My dad was beat just for being Christian and going to church. My parents think the whiny liberals in this country are fucking pathetic and wish they got the opportunity to live in a country where the average income is $300/month and no jobs anywhere. I have cousins that still live there that leave the country for work.

I wish these cry baby fucks would actually leave like they said they would if Trump won.

2
FakeNametag 2 points ago +2 / -0

My grandparents (Germans) left Austro-Hungary (from Banat, an area that is now part of Serbia) about 20 years before the commies took over. When the commies took over, they stole everything from our family that was left behind including their land, stripped everyone of citizenship, and starved my great grandparents to death in a concentration camp. Most everyone who was still there died, except for my father's aunt and uncle who escaped the camps with their grandchildren. Everyone else died. The entire village was purged of Germans.

My wife's grandfather (Serbian) had all his land and wealth expropriated by the commies. My wife grew up as an outcast because her family was anti-communist. Her family fled Serbia during the Milosevic regime and did not return until a few years ago. The country is permanently wrecked due to its communist past and everyone in the family is barely surviving because of low wages and high unemployment.

I don't know a single person from Eastern Europe who isn't a full blown and very loud Trump supporter.

13
Darkheartisland 13 points ago +13 / -0

Reddit is full of dumbass cry baby doomers. They would rather see half the world burn and millions die just to prove republicans wrong. Fuck them, today was a good fucking day in an incredibly stressful week. And the cooperation between government and private sector is exactly the way this should be handled (that’s what they are doing in SoKo).

I don’t give a fuck about ideologies, if you aren’t rooting for Trump right now you are a despicable human being.

Contrast that to the way I discovered the site last year, not all horrible and I was slowly 'boiled like a frog,' eventually finding TD and then shunned for it.

It's a huge PR win for Google

They are helping themselves.

And most of America uses Google - so they are helping their customers too.

In times of National Crisis it's common for the Titans of Industry to step up.

6
bitterbut_true 6 points ago +10 / -4

So what are these fabulous "Titans of industry" going to actually do??...are they going to shepherd the sick to a separate buying section??...perhaps hold open the toilet doors. Thank God for Google and Walmart "stepping up". So much better to witness action instead of things sounding nice.

3
The_RedWolf 3 points ago +3 / -0

While I know it is not the exact same thing, when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston a few years ago, HEB and Walmart, the two biggest grocery chains in Texas sent an insane amount of trucks of supplies and cash into relief efforts.

Walmart shipped 1700 truck loads of supplies and donated a combined $30M and HEB sent a couple hundred trucks of food, water and generators as well and deployed mobile kitchens that could pump out 6200 meals a day, and donated a couple million in cash as well.

HEB got all the praise but Walmart helped a lot to the region.

1
bitterbut_true 1 point ago +2 / -1

17

How bad would it look for them if they refused to help?

7
deleted 7 points ago +8 / -1
4
NuclearDreams 4 points ago +4 / -0

I could see them purposely designing the website to work like shit for the first couple of weeks so that the Trump administration gets the backlash. The thing is, Trump and Pence were very vocal about the fact that Google was designing it for the government so I think smarter people would know the blame falls squarely on them. That won't keep shill leftists from crying about "relying on private corporations" when it inevitably fails.

Also I don't trust for a second that the app won't somehow track your private information. I would only consider using it if I don't have to put in any identifying information. A simple (Step One: what are your symptoms. Step Two: what is your zip code? Here are the nearest testing centers near you.) should suffice.

11
americathegr888 11 points ago +11 / -0

Or Walmart for that matter. Both globalist companies that leech off the American taxpayer.

2
silentsupporter 2 points ago +2 / -0

I missed the Walmart connection. Can you fill me in?

1
americathegr888 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well they destroyed tons of American jobs and businesses by undercutting with volume from cheap Chinese suppliers, for one. Secondly they rely a TON on welfare to support their workforce. The taxpayer is forced to massively subsidize their business. They've also contributed a lot to driving down wages by supporting unlimited mass immigration from the third world.

Personally I haven't shopped there in over a decade, and support local businesses instead, because quality is better and it's better for Americans. I know not everyone can afford that and don't have a problem with people who are sort of forced into buying from them, but it's certainly not a company that has benefited Americans by existing.

5
AnotherPatriot 5 points ago +5 / -0

They'll manipulate search results to promote negative stories about how Trump is somehow responsible for the Wuhan virus.

It's the complete opposite of helping and they're not even ashamed that they could cost people their lives.

18
badbeachboy 18 points ago +18 / -0

This whole thing was a genius move on the white house's part. President Trump has enlisted all these private companies assistance, they look good in the average american persons mind which is a win for them. Geotus then gets to leverage his assistance towards those CEOS in the future if needed. It was like watching miracle on 34th street when Santa tells the mom to go to Gimballs to buy something Macy's doesnt have in stock. This bought all of these companies good will and the Geotus knows it. In all seriousness, this is what America SHOULD be about, we all come together in a time of crisis (not a real crisis IMO) but none the less but this was nice to watch. I even though back to Jerry Lewis telethons when all kinds of rival companies came together to raise $ for a noble cause. America Fuck Yes!

7
Lion_partyUSA 7 points ago +7 / -0

You nailed it. Unity in crisis is more powerful than propaganda.

18
MAGA_Master 18 points ago +18 / -0

This was great. Trump admin needs to:

  1. Bring CEOs (or anyone that wants stock price boost) come on every couple days and say what they are doing to help.

  2. Do it every 2-3 days for a market boost

  3. Keep doing these “Coronachats” about how we are going to be okay

  4. Don’t take any questions from these dumb dumb reporters

This worked out great. Better than I expected.

9
MAGA_Master 9 points ago +9 / -0

Heck. The next coronachat could be the social media folks. Get up there and talk about how they are trying to keep good research on the social media websites and how they are working out the websites about how to treat the flu at home. Boom FB and Google get stock boost.

Next corona chat. Get proctor gamble ceo and gerber ceo up there and talk about how they are going to increase production and hours to produce and sell more hand sanitizer. Boom they get a stock boost.

Next one. Cruise liners get on there and talk about how they are going to give out free massages. And that the government could use their liners and makeshift hospitals for a small (big) fee from the government to rent them. Boom stock boost.

2
ArchieInTheBunker 2 points ago +2 / -0
