Any parent with a child in public, or even private, school understands why. The indoctrination starts early and only gets deeper with each passing grade.
This school closing is insane. It directly contradicts the guidance put out by CDC which basically says there is no evidence to indicate that closing schools early in an epidemic cycle like this will slow the spread of the disease, but there are a number of reasons why it might make things worse.
Only explanation is a bunch of governors who either want to appear to be 'taking the situation seriously', or they are just trying to add to the panic in the hopes that it will hurt the POTUS.

Yes. It is starting to happen here in the State of Liberal Washington as well from what I heard from a friend over lunch today. I have no kids in school, so I cannot verify it though.
