It's a healthy bit of both, I think, but you definitely can't discount the former because that article stinks of the same narcissism. Apparently it's just everyone else's fault, and he's not to blame because mental illness.

I can't imagine someone doing all that without a good dose of crazy being involved.

Yes but the VA is (or was) well equipped to diagnose that and PTSD, instead they almost convinced him he was female.

This person is definitely mentally ill. I dated the most beautiful girl who had serious mental illness. She had been physically and mentally abused her entire childhood, and then had been sent here from Japan as a foreign exchange student at 16, got raped every night by the host father for months until she was afraid she was pregnant and told someone. The things those experiences do to a person's moral and emotional programming are unfathomable. You as a sane person just can't relate. She was constantly seeking attention and affirmation in any form and indiscriminately from as many people as possible. This guy also seems to be addicted to attention. I feel so bad for his wife dealing with all of this. I escaped the nightmare when I graduated and got a job out of state.

Right. You should deeply examine why you felt trapped by a troubled person.

[in 2015] I’d learned how to become a female from online medical documents at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital website.

I know the guy who was CIO for the VA under Obama. Coincidentally, he left just before the double-booking scandal broke. He also invented First.Gov in the Clinton administation. He's a big lib, and probably very proud.

Thanks, Obama, for updating the Department of Veterans Affairs hospital website to include gender transition information!

Same here. I understand Pedes being a little creeped out by this person, but I also think he's a genuinely mentally ill person, and these people are all-too-easily manipulated by people in authority, especially if they're wearing a white coat or wielding a gavel. Plus a team of activist-enablers cheering them on.

The scam works both ways: ideologically-driven physicians rush sexually confused patients into drastic life-changing "cures"; patients, backed by LGBT activists, scare doctors into playing along with the biology-denying lunacy for fear of being labeled transphobic.

Rather than speculate on the author's psychological motives, consider what this article means as a political statement: it's a transgender "walk-away", and like Brandon Straka walking away from the Democrats, it could be part of a movement--Straka has his own YouTube channel with tons of testimonials by other ex-Dems. In fact, there's another fairly prominent YouTuber, a lesbian feminist, who recently proclaimed she's leaving the LGBTQ community, because like all left-wing fanatics they are now eating their own, trying to shame her as a "terf" ("transgender-exclusionary radical feminist") because she doesn't care to date a "woman" with a dick.

Maybe the pendulum's swinging, and the LGBT fanatics will finally lose their malignant hold over the medical community, the judicial system, and society in general. The lunatics can't run the asylum forever. Eventually a movement based on denial of scientific fact and common sense collapses under the weight of its own absurdities.

So I hope.

Read the first couple paragraphs then it started going into "their story". Everyone has a story, I imagine their's littered with mental illness.

Glad ya got to keep yer pecker, pal. For your unborn child's sake, I hope your hormone treatments made you sterile.

"Two fake gender identities couldn’t hide the truth of my biological reality. There is no third gender or third sex. Like me, intersex people are either male or female. Their condition is the result of a disorder of sexual development, and they need help and compassion.

I played my part in pushing forward this grand illusion. I’m not the victim here. My wife, daughter, and the American taxpayers are—they are the real victims."

The APA is doing these people a disservice.

One thing they all have in common is childhood sexual abuse.

I'd like to understand more about your perspective on this - what is it you think this person deserves and why?
