Yup. It's a bit dishonest to use numbers in their current state. Covid-19 appears to have a much higher growth rate than other illnesses. There is less herd immunity and absence of symptoms during initial days. It's hard to judge things at the beginning of an exponential curve, so it's better being careful.
I think the media IS definitely spreading panic in glee. I think there is quite a bit of overreaction... That doesn't change the potential danger here though.
Agreed. Obongo could have done better. But covid19 is actually more concerning. Though I agree with OP, the media has people insane with fear porn right now.
