My theory is that their doctors have advised them to catch the virus ASAP so they'll develop an immunity to it, because it could mutate into something much worse.

Hopefully this won't happen, but it did happen with the Spanish flu epidemic. The first wave was relatively benign, but then it mutated into something much worse.

If it mutates, that would nullify your immunity. This is why you can get a cold or influenza more than once.

Please provide evidence to back up that statement. I have seen nothing to suggest that is the case.

They have stated that people have gotten it and tested positive. Then gotten better and tested negative, then tested positive again. That doesn't mean it's true. This IS the media we're talking about here.
