Schools are canceling through the end of April, for something that happens every year, but has a fancy name THIS year. The economy is getting wrecked, people are going broke, all for Orange Man Bad points. My wife was supposed to have a live show with her band, biggest one of her life and they fucking canceled it. She's been prepping for months for this shit. And these fucking Leftist pieces of pig shit worked everyone into a fucking frenzy and now there's no concert happening. When it’s over and the infection rate in the US doesn’t follow the same trajectory as other countries, we need to hammer the fact that Trump protected America. I promise you, if the infection rate in the US follows or is higher than other countries, the leftist news will be talking about it and blaming Trump non stop. It will be up to us to trumpet the success when it’s not. Based on reactions and what is going on, it looks like the US will follow a much lower trajectory than other countries. It will also depend on how fast they get testing kits out and how accurate those kits are.
We are actually at the inflection point right now. If the daily death rates remain 5 to 15/day next week, we are off of the exponential curve and it's going to be similar to South Korea. If it starts exploding to 20-80/day, then we will be on Italy's path.
I think we are going to see a big spike up in cases because of Mardi Gras. Hopefully the fatality rate won't go up much because the infected should be the young. Although I do expect a dozen or so of the young to die if thousands are infected.
Number of deaths yesterday was 8. Today we are at 6 currently. Hopefully we can keep the deaths under 10 today. Anything under 10 today is good. 10-15 is worrisome. If we get 20+ deaths today, we are in a lot of trouble.

Engineering student here who also works for IT and I'm absolutely livid. They've unilaterally cancelled our electric vehicle project for the safety of students, but I still have to report to campus to technically wipe the asses of faculty who get paid $100K+ but can't figure out how to use a VPN.

It's not though. I'm a medical student and our city hospitals are seeing a big increase in viral pneumonias that aren't tested yet. Some of them turning into ARDS which is extremely dangerous, and also causing viral myocarditis which can give young people heart attacks days later. It's a very dangerous virus that seems to be able to directly invade alveoli and heart tissue. Don't panic but also please follow the president and CDC recommendations or our ERs and ICUs are not going to be able to handle it.

Yes. There have been several people who seemed to recover from ARDS, were weaned from the vent, and then developed vfib/asystole and died suddenly. The virus apparently gets into heart tissue as well as liver and kidney.

I think both the death and hospitalization numbers are inflated because we're dramatically undercounting the infected in other countries, but a high end of that number is 42 million people needing hospitalization. On average (it's not, states are differently populated), that's ~ 8 million people per state. Does your state have eight million hospital beds?
Say that's off by a factor of ten. 800 thousand hospital beds per state doesn't sound any more realistic.
So...yes, it sucks, yes, the press is overblowing some aspects and trying to blame everything on Trump. The fact is this is not the flu, it really is dangerous, and should be taken seriously.

In a matter of 1 week. To put it in perspective, my medical school this weekend canceled all rotations because they're pulling med students into a state task force. This has never, ever happened before and the hospitals/schools are losing a ton of money and risking a lot to do it. This is not a normal illness.
I think the best thing to come from this mass hysteria push is that we will be better prepared for the real bio-terror attacks that will certainly occur and the need to secure the border and finally vetting the people we allow in to America once and for all.

I'm hearing by me that pretty much every grocery store is cleaned out because of assholes panic buying. I usually order my food online so I don't have to deal with people but delivery is backed up 5 days when I can usually get it in less than 24hrs.
