That means it is even LESS lethal.. I suspect there were millions of cases that went and gone we never counted..

My husband and son were incredibly sick in January. Both were down and out for 2 solid weeks. We thought the flu, but now I’m not so sure. Only thing is...I never got sick, and I slept next to my husband every night and while I do keep a tidy house, I didn’t like, go crazy with bleach or anything. This is all just crazy.

Proud_American 22 points ago +26 / -4

It’s looking more and more like this was released upon the people, but didn’t have the effect they were hoping. When people were shaking it off, they may have stepped up the hype starting with China.

I just went through that. It’s finally fading away, and I didn’t have much of a fever, but the body aches....

I also felt some throat irritation and fatigue, and the weird thing is I would feel like I was overcoming it, and then it would get worse the next day.

marvelwall 1 point ago +2 / -1

oh my gosh, this! I felt like whatever illness I had back in January, I would be getting better, then seriously, even you’re later fever is back and felt rough. but like overall, I didn’t feel horrible, I just felt super tired and had the fever and a dry cough, and some laborer breathing.

The husband of one of the cruise ship passengers who tested positive for COVID19 and were stuck in Japan for weeks, never tested positive for the virus either.

He had been in a small cabin with his wife for days, slept by her side, spent almost all day and night with her, touched her, and was near or had casual contact with other cruise passengers and surfaces on the ship. Thankfully, she recovered, but he was never infected despite having been so close to her and probably even kissing her before she was tested, and unknowingly, she even already had a low fever by the time she was diagnosed.

3
CutTheGrass 3 points ago +3 / -0

That’s so bizarre. I wonder if some people won’t get it no matter what.

3
no_you_cant_buy_that 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes, that's generally how it works. Some people are immune to certain viruses. Its called natural or innate immunity. Usually a small percentage.

1
Nalgahyde 1 point ago +1 / -0

I thought I remembered hearing Dr. Centeno, during his Dan Bongino interview, state that out of around 4k passengers on the Princess Cruise Line only 17 were infected or some ridiculous low numbers like that. Dan Bongino posted that interview on Friday.

1
leing15 1 point ago +1 / -0

It looks like there has been problems in more than one cruise ship. One of them docked in San Francisco recently, and the one that the couple I mentioned was on was in Japan.

I don't know how many passengers of the cruise ship that was in Japan were infected. However, the husband of one of the women who tested positive for COVID19 didn't get infected.

Here's the article about the couple, if you haven't seen it:

I got sick in January the same way. My wife didn’t.

3
MemeSquad 3 points ago +4 / -1

I was very sick this past January too. I never felt I was on my death bed, but I haven’t been that sick in a very long time.

Deplora 29 points ago +30 / -1

Lots of pneumonia is neither flu nor COVID-19, and a lot is bacterial, rather than caused by any kind of virus. The above report just sounds like paranoia.

14
Isolated_Patriot 14 points ago +14 / -0

"OGM I was sick a few months ago and totally recovered without issue.. a-a-am I gonna die now? I'm reeeeeeeling!"

This is actually the new panic, I'm seeing it pop up more and more throughout the day.

6
OneOfMany_MAGA 6 points ago +6 / -0

I will also say that although many COVID-19 patients have nonspecific “ground glass” pneumonia pattern on cat scan of the chest, in a significant number of cases the pattern of COVID-19 (large rounded pneumonia areas) is distinctive and we docs have not been seeing it before this outbreak, outside of patient with risk factors for septic emboli.

Pneumonia with negative influenza test does not mean COVID-19, it means pneumonia, often bacterial or non-influenza viral.

0
OhLollyLollyPop 0 points ago +1 / -1

Got a beand new pneumonia shot last Wednesday and a flu shot.

4
Deplora 4 points ago +4 / -0

What you actually got was a pneumoccocal vaccine, which prevents certain types of bacterial pneumonia. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd/pneumo/index.html It has no effect in preventing any viral pneumonia, though your flu shot will help protect you from pneumonia caused by currently prevalent strains of influenza virus.

Proud_American 19 points ago +20 / -1

We had a virus roll through here that was very different than in the past. So many people had it that it was a topic of discussion.

I haven’t been sick in years and I got it. It was similar symptoms to the flu, but milder. Went from a slight fever and sore throat to chest congestion very rapidly. I didn’t feel horrible, ironically, but some of the crap that got hocked up was like, “what the actual fuck!?”

2
krzyzowiec 2 points ago +2 / -0

I had the exact same symptoms. Did you go through something weird where you felt like you were overcoming it, and then it got worse the next day?

2
marvelwall 2 points ago +2 / -0

I did this exactly!

2
marvelwall 2 points ago +2 / -0

yes!! I literally had this too back in January, really makes you think!

18
AsscreamKing1 18 points ago +19 / -1

Been wondering that, had the weirdest chest flue, fever shit I have ever encountered in 40 years, kept telling my woman how I could swear this shit's from a Bio Lab,..as soon as I got better, it hit me again a week later. I mabey get sick once a year, and that shit kicked my ass, feeling really strong today, ready for round 3!

dandylionsummer 17 points ago +17 / -0

My whole family got sick in Jan, and almost everyone I knew as well. First the flu, at least it felt like it but we never got tested ,no fun but not terrible and mainly over in three days, and then illness X a week later. Headaches then sore throat then into the lungs, leaving a couple days later a dry cough that lasted almost a month. Sound familiar? China's first case was in Nov.

12
Southern_Belle 12 points ago +12 / -0

China's first case was in Nov.

The first case they admit to, perhaps.

6
GBA4ever 6 points ago +6 / -0

Had friends and family with same. Tests for flu sometimes showed A or B, sometimes negative. All recovered. Friend who is a nurse commented back in January that they had a lot of flu/pneumonia cases coming in. I think it’s been here awhile. I wonder how many people who died of pneumonia in nursing homes going back to January actually had corona. Dems will keep pushing for more test kits to keep the panic ramped up.

3
OhLollyLollyPop 3 points ago +3 / -0

My daughter's family had the same thing. Really sick for a week, then a week later, got sick again. Tests said it was Type A flu the first time. They didn't get checked for the second round.

1
krzyzowiec 1 point ago +1 / -0

Me too! I had it and felt like garbage, then I felt like superman afterwards, and then it hit me again. I feel like I’m overcoming it now but I’m ready for it to flare up again tomorrow.

Yeah a bunch of my medical school classmates got very sick a few weeks ago- very high fevers, turning up to clinic looking literally green. (They got sent home obviously). Very possible it was the first wave going through the hospital.

8
chipitin 8 points ago +9 / -1

China has started a propaganda campaign saying the wuhan virus started in the US in September. Claiming the whole electric cig lung infection cases were actually the wuhan virus.

Now people saying they had flu like symptoms without the flu .. sorry hard to buy it. If it was the case millions would be infected and tens of thousands dead in the US alone.

Mrs had a sore throat and dry cough a couple weeks ago. Slight fever. Took it easy over the weekend and felt pretty crappy but didn’t miss any work. Said to me today “huh. Those are the symptoms I had. I wonder if that was actually the WuFlu.”

7
DisgustedByMisleadia 7 points ago +7 / -0

I don't know about December, but mapping of the genome of the virus in Washington and considering the usual mutation rate, researchers concluded that it was being spread undetected in that state since the middle of January, after arriving from China.

I'd believe it. Whatever I had to fight off last month kicked my butt. Started with the worst runny nose of my life that wouldn't stop at all, then by morning I went to a 102F fever and stayed that way for 3 days. Rolled TP and stuck them in my nose as wicks and changed every 3-5 minutes... was the only way to not be dripping everywhere. Then when that finally broke it was followed by 2 weeks of shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle weakness, and one time losing my lunch. Dry cough and I never did hack much out.

I figured it was bad flu but secretly wished it was covid19 because I really don't want to do that again so soon after that bout. At the time it was barely in the news.

Many at work had it the same time. One needed ICU

I got sick in Feb with a mystery illness. I had very achy joints and was exhausted for 3-4 days and then snapped out of it. My wife was achy and sick for 2 days after I was well exact symptoms, we chalked it up to a mystery virus....

I’ve said that I think that I had COVID-19 back in January. it started with a headache, then a day later, all of it hit me. I had fever between 100.8-102 for 8 days straight. Dry cough, and my breathing was labored, and my energy was just shot.

I kept telling my family during it, that it’s the weirdest sickness I’ve ever had. I didn’t feel seriously ill, but was randomly running a high fever and didn’t have energy. unlike any sickness I’ve ever had before.

I’m 99.9% sure that I had the virus. I’ve had the flu, it wasn’t the flu, I’ve had bronchitis and it wasn’t that, we just could not figure it out.

3
HungNavySeal300Kills 3 points ago +3 / -0

Had something in January. I don't think I ever had anything like the flu before.

Headache while driving on a road trip. The next morning I woke up sore and chilly. Slight nausea. Got more sore. Went to the hotel and struggled to get warm. Sore throat, saved my voice by not talking. Took hours under the covers at 80 degrees to finally break a sweat.

Finished up after a few days of full body pain.

This was mid January

3
AcidOverlord 3 points ago +3 / -0

I came down with some godawful flu right on Jan 11th. I remember because it was the first time I ever called in to work at my new job. Fever chills, severe cough and chest congestion that had me bedridden for 4 days and sick as a dog until the first week of Feb. I didn't shake the last of the chest symptoms until halfway through Feb, but nobody was talking about Wuhan much yet and I didn't go to the doc. Now you got me wondering.

2
Nimble_navigator92 2 points ago +2 / -0

I flew to Dallas back in later October and afterwards contracted something nasty. Lost my voice, terrible sore throat, aches and pains, post nasal drip. I'm not convinced it wasn't Wu flu. I never get sick and I was down and out for 4 or 5 days

HiGloss 2 points ago +2 / -0

So many people I know were sick in late Jan/early Feb with "killer colds" as my friend described it. When I talked to her on the phone I encouraged her to go to the Dr and get antibiotics because she always ends up with bronchitis or something every time she gets the sniffles. She didn't, but the illness spread through her workplace. Everyone there is fairly young and travels a lot so though it could have actually been a "killer cold" that didn't kill anyone it also could have been something more. We'll never know.

Why do people post shit like this.

Most pneumonia is bacterial. Negative flu test, of course. Pneumonia pattern on imaging, of course. Flu symptoms which happen to be about the same as bacterial pneumonia symptoms.

Like a lot of people here I had an odd sickness at the start of February. Kicked it after a few days; really just drainage and sore tonsils. Didn't get much in the lungs because I hock constantly.

Now it's back again. Right tonsil is sore. Honestly thinking about hitting one of those drive-thrus next week if it's not insane. The weather's been nuts though so that's most likely it.

1
Proud_American 1 point ago +2 / -1

Stop hocking as much if you can. It’s inflames the tonsils. You may still be fighting something, but at least it won’t hurt your throat so much.

What helped mine hurt less was a salt water gargle. You need like a tablespoon in 8ozs of warm water.

1
FitOfficial 1 point ago +1 / -0

My problem if I stop doing that is it gets in my chest and I start feeling like crap. Then I cough and my tonsils hurt anyway.

Definitely will start the salt gargle though.

2
Proud_American 2 points ago +3 / -1

What you’re inadvertently doing is making your sinus cavity a storage ground for infection.

Blow your nose gently. Stop pulling it back though the pallet. If it gets to your chest that’s ok because it moves down and out of the sinuses. Look up postural drainage, too. It will help if coughing isn’t easy for you.

It sounds to me like it may take a while for you to stop the habit, but if you do you’ll find the irritation will actually stay away for good.

1
FitOfficial 1 point ago +1 / -0

My tonsils are generally sore before the drainage starts. Unfortunately I was a strep kid, so I think my tonsils are just going to be sore any time I'm sick. But in general I blow my nose before clearing my palate... that second portion just gets what's already back there that isn't ejected out the nose.

If I just let it drain the illness lasts a lot longer. That's why I got over it in a few days instead of a couple weeks.
