I would love to just hear what others in my political corner are thinking of all this. My thoughts have moved significantly over the past couple months. At first, I was really worried about wuflu because I was watching the "citizen media" out of China and it was disturbing as fuck. After a couple weeks, that got shut down. I was prepping cause I didn't know what the fuck to expect based on what I'd seen. I was arguing with people who were saying basically "it's no big deal." I told them I've thought the same about everything before this but something's different about this.
Now.... I'm not as sure about being really worried about the virus itself, and I wonder if it's somehow been blown way out of proportion. At the same time though, I still can't shake that something isn't right. I want to know where exactly this came from. I don't mean wuhan... but how it got where it got, and who did it, and was it intentional? (No I don't believe President Trump had anything to do with that. There's lots of circumstantial evidence that leads to lots of theories but none of them are President Trump.)
Now I'm in my latter 30s and I've never seen panic like what I'm seeing now. Sorry I'm kind of going on but I just don't know what to think about this. Should we be worried about martial law? Should we be worried there's some other nefarious plan behind all this? If so, how is POTUS able to stop it? Does it make sense for schools, workplaces, gatherings etc to shut down? Is it really that serious? (Maybe it is... I just have a lot of uncertainty and don't trust anything... don't know what to think. I guess that's what happens when you have the kind of media we have.
spez: thanks so much to everyone who's been answering. It helps to hear what other people are thinking about all this.
Don’t be too scared of Winnie the poo flu. Just wash your hands and avoid people that are sick in public (assholes). Which is stuff you should do all the time anyway.
Do be scared of panic. Panic can cause all sorts of ills. People can be killed in a panicked crowd. Panic can cause recession. Panic can throttle essential services. Remain vigilant to protect yourself from the panic without becoming succeptible to panic yourself. Good luck. Stay calm.
