The Bernie Bros are vowing revenge

“We will never – NEVER boost or support Joe Biden or defend his abysmal record and terrible policy positions,” Henry Williams, executive director of The Gravel Institute, told The Post. “We will tell people, as we always have, to vote their conscience and to make decisions based on the interests of all the world’s oppressed people … I do expect a massive exodus from the Democratic Party.” Williams, along with David Oks and Henry Magowan, are the driving forces behind the brief presidential campaign of Mike Gravel, an 89-year-old former Alaska senator who left the race in August. The trio then became enthusiastic Bernie Bros.

The grumbling from Sanders die-hards is no idle threat. A whopping 12% of them voted for Trump in 2016, according to an analysis by Cooperative Congressional Election Study. That added up to roughly 216,000 voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, exit polls showed. Trump’s combined margin of victory in those states was 77,744.

<snip>

After sweeping to victories in the early states, many believed Sanders was on a glide path to the Democratic nomination. The momentum was halted by Biden after a crushing victory in South Carolina and strong showings on Super Tuesday. Former establishment rivals like Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttigieg and Mike Bloomberg quickly consolidated around the former vice president. Now, far behind in the delegate math, it’s Sanders who finds his campaign on life-support.

“I think staying in the race is the responsible thing to do,” Bhaskar Sunkara, founder and editor of the socialist magazine Jacobin told The Post. “He needs to challenge Biden on certain aspects of his rhetoric. He needs to accumulate clout and delegates to shape the Democratic platform and pressure the Biden campaign into adopting a more popular economic platform.”

Sunkara says he too has no plans to vote for Biden.

We're unable to take over your dumpster fire political party, so we're pissed!

41
Thenew23rd [S] 41 points ago +43 / -2

That's accurate.

It's also accurate that Democrats have been pushing socialism for years but the DNC has done a masterful job of undermining Sanders's campaign. IOW, they're trying to have it both ways and it's blowing up in their faces.

JwPATX 29 points ago +30 / -1

They know/have always known that the american public is not in favor of socialism, so Pelosi & Co. always couched it in several layers of feel-good words/hid their intentions. The idiots like AOC coming along dropped the mask, then they started to think that they’d actually convinced enough people that socialism is a good thing. Then they saw bernie’s numbers in actual primaries. The adults woke up and said, “aw hell...we didn’t brainwash hard enough,” and the brainwashed masses said, “fuck you if you don’t pick a socialist! Everyone wants socialism!”

So doublespeak in other words.

buco 4 points ago +4 / -0

Bernie Bros finally realize, Bernie isn't a Democrat. Democrats know he isn't a Democrat.

35
ancillasedet 35 points ago +35 / -0

Do it Bernie: Run 3rd party!

28
Thenew23rd [S] 28 points ago +29 / -1

I doubt Sanders will push it that far. He was even stronger against Hillary than he is against Biden but he settled for a lake house ["camp"--dacha] and the temporary use of a private plane.

8
Yawnz13 8 points ago +9 / -1

I'm of the opinion that Sanders has always been the "radical left" scarecrow put up by the DNC to make their preferred candidate look tame by comparison. Bernie didn't get "screwed over" in 2016, rigging the primary was just an insurance policy. Him being registered as an "Independent" is just a smoke screen.

8
Thenew23rd [S] 8 points ago +9 / -1

It won't work this time. Too much bad blood among Sanders's supporters for them to meekly coalesce around the establishment hack.

7
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 7 points ago +7 / -0

It didn't work last time either, but it has only gotten worse for them.

2
4moreyears 2 points ago +2 / -0

Imagine their shock when he started winning LOL. "Oh my God they hate Hillary THAT much?"

6
ancillasedet 6 points ago +6 / -0

Well, he doesn't believe in private enterprise, but he'd totally beat Biden and probably break the Democrats.

According to Rush Limbaugh, Bernie's goal is to spread his socialist ideology and, if he loses the nomination, that's fine with him as long as he can push more socialism to the masses (and, he is).

3
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah, he has already demonstrated his subservience to the DNC. Not a chance in hell he runs third party.

22
Azarak 22 points ago +22 / -0

Bernie has huge rallies, but his supporters can't be bothered with voting. Babbling Biden is getting the majority of votes despite his obvious mental decline. The dems rather have a mental incompetent than a socialist.

8
Thenew23rd [S] 8 points ago +9 / -1

Agree but how they imagine they can slip a guy in obvious cognitive decline past Trump is a mystery.

9
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 9 points ago +9 / -0

Many of them believe their own bullshit about President Trump being a moron and not the very stable genius that he is. They learned nothing from 2016.

3
Guruchild 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah because any idiot can build billion dollar companies. The guy had it handed to him! I mean, I can take $100 and turn it into $500,000 so easy... lol

2
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 2 points ago +2 / -0

Amazingly these idiots actually believe that.

6
Meddlesom 6 points ago +6 / -0

The democrats see Biden as a means to get their hand picked VP into the big chair.

1
negiasu 1 point ago +1 / -0

The dumb thing is that people would rather have a guy who is mentally incompetent than a very stable genius because "he is a nice guy" and "I can relate to him"

SneakyDD 18 points ago +18 / -0

The ones angry enough over Bernie getting shafted to vote Trump make sense to me - they are the anti-establishment folks. I welcome them because we truly are aligned in wanting to end government corruption. We just disagree on how. They want to add more government to end it (good luck) and we want to shrink government.

6
WishdoctorsSong 6 points ago +6 / -0

The enemy of my enemy is still a commie in this case, we are absolutely not truly aligned with the Bernouts.

2
IncredibleMrE1 2 points ago +2 / -0

The Bernouts are rabid commies who want us to throw us in gulags for wrongthink. Fuck them, we don't need or want them.

6
Thenew23rd [S] 6 points ago +7 / -1

Maybe all they want is revenge on Biden and the DNC. But at the polls in November, that will be good enough.

16
uvontheterrible 16 points ago +16 / -0

The Democrats were screwed the day Sanders entered the race.

15
XirWokeMasterCuck 15 points ago +15 / -0

The national vote will still be near 50/50 ... as always. These Bernie bros love to talk shit, but they will fold and vote for Biden cause they are ok with being cucked and shit on. Bernie won’t run third party either, you will see him endorse Biden. Just like he did when Hillary fucked him.

12
MoscowCommie 12 points ago +12 / -0

Good for them for sticking with it. I have no respect for people whose entire political thought process is reeeeeeeeeeeseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, orange man bad.

The DNC wouldn’t have this problem if they didn’t let a non-Democrat run on their ticket. More than followers teaching the DNC a lesson by not voting for Biden, Bernie needs to teach them a lesson by running as a third party candidate.

5
Thenew23rd [S] 5 points ago +6 / -1

Agree. The DNC let registered Independent Bernie Sanders run against Hillary and lost the election. [Though this was more due to Trump and his powerful MAGA message than to Sanders's interference.]

For whatever reason they learned nothing and let it happen again. Now their chickens are coming home to roost.

7
chuckachookah 7 points ago +7 / -0

We're unable to take over your dumpster fire political party, so we're pissed!

Showcases either:

A) the inadequacy of the Bernie Bros at actually doing something or

B) the DNC desire to not actually "bring change" but to just keep a lock on power.

It's probably more of B. (And, the GOP does similar shit, but hopefully the GOP is learning that the Best Way is the MAGA Way and will dispel the globalist sympathizers in their midst)

7
eddieblasphemy 7 points ago +7 / -0

So even more privileged and college indoctorinated Bernie Bros won't show up to vote?

4
Thenew23rd [S] 4 points ago +5 / -1

Some will stay home. Some will vote Trump.

7
practicalize 7 points ago +7 / -0

The bros will turn on Bernie too. He’ll have betrayed them for a second time to the establishment candidate.

4
TD_Covfefe_Crusader 4 points ago +4 / -0

Nah, they will support him again in 2024! These idiots didn't learn from 2016 and they sure as hell aren't going to learn this time. One of the biggest Bernie Bros I know blames fucking Russia for Bernie losing the nomination in 2016.

7
Barbieblonde 7 points ago +7 / -0

Bernie Bros/Antifa are going to stay home November 3rd 2020... after burning down/assaulting Democrats all summer long... over Sanders losing the nomination.

It is going to be 1968 all over again. The Wuhan Panic is just the start. Change my mind.

6
Illuminaughtie 6 points ago +6 / -0

they could vote for our Don , as far as i can see , he is not adding to oppression anywhere , the exact opposite in fact

3
Thenew23rd [S] 3 points ago +4 / -1

Well I'm not a Bernie bro but if I were, I can imagine DC outsider Trump being 100x more palatable than 40 year establishment hack Biden.

5
JwPATX 5 points ago +5 / -0

I think we’re going to eventually have a 4 party system after 2024 when the republicans try to steer the ship back. Democrats, democratic socialists, republicans, lion party/bull moose party...something other than being cowed/controlled opposition.

14
Thenew23rd [S] 14 points ago +15 / -1

That might not be a bad thing. The Democrat and GOP parties are rotten to the core. I'd join the MAGA party the day it became official.

6
JwPATX 6 points ago +6 / -0

Same

4
deleted 4 points ago +4 / -0
4
JwPATX 4 points ago +5 / -1

Maybe, but I also think the republicans are going right back to controlled opposition once trump is gone. A few of them have learned how to win, but most are still afraid of being called names by the left.

1
WishdoctorsSong 1 point ago +1 / -0

Take the Trumpublicans out of the Republican Party and their in an even more weakened and failed state than the current Democrat party. Nobody has wanted to talk long term too much just yet since the current goal is 4 more years of Trump, but once that is secure I believe the topic of succession and what comes next will be far more interesting.

4
Dizzyedge 4 points ago +4 / -0

They're fucked either way. Many Bernie bro's won't vote for Biden. Many Biden moderates will not for a socialist.

4
WishdoctorsSong 4 points ago +4 / -0

Diversity politics coming home to roost. You can't build a party on splitting people into more and more fractured victim groups and then expect them to all line up together.

1
Thenew23rd [S] 1 point ago +2 / -1

Exactly. Lose-lose.

4
Choppermagic 4 points ago +4 / -0

he sits as an independent, he should run as an independent. Anyone who truly supports Bernie and hates the DNC cheating should agree

0
Thenew23rd [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

True, yet the DNC lets him get away with it. Idk why

2
tinkesquire 2 points ago +2 / -0

He may have threatened to run as an independent and that would have been disastrous for them, worse then stealing the election from him.

0
Thenew23rd [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

I hadn't thought of that but you're right. If Sanders was going to run anyway, it was definitely in the Democrats' best interests to keep him from going third party.

4
xopi 4 points ago +4 / -0

Does it even matter? The pedocrats have their electoral college voters in their pockets anyways. Trump can win in a landslide with the popular vote, but as long as they have those at least 150-200 of those anonymous "randomly chosen" people in their pocket, the election will still be closer than it needs to be. At this point I'm not even sure they will even bother to commit voter fraud anymore. Just get those electoral college voters, and threaten them with arkancide unless they vote for Biden.

6
Thenew23rd [S] 6 points ago +7 / -1

There was massive fraud in 2016. Trump's voters showed up in numbers big enough to overcome it.

There are more of us--and we are more committed than ever--this year.

4
fdagasfd 4 points ago +4 / -0

He needs to accumulate clout and delegates to shape the Democratic platform and pressure the Biden campaign into adopting a more popular economic platform.

Tfw your entire platform hinges upon lying about what Americans actually think of socialism.

1
Thenew23rd [S] 1 point ago +2 / -1

You're right, but between now and November the Bernie bros are the Democrats' problem. And imo they're not going away.

3
tinkesquire 3 points ago +3 / -0

I want this to be true but TDS is strong with many of the Bros and the media will have months to preach to the never biden crowd. I hope that the debate tonight can push the nomination to a brokered convention.

0
Thenew23rd [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

A brokered convention would be the best outcome. It remains to be seen but I can't imagine how Biden holds it together for a two hour one on one.

3
Keiichi81 3 points ago +3 / -0

Nominate Joe Biden. Bernie Bros defect. Trump wins.

Nominate Bernie Sanders. Normal non-communist Americans stay home. Trump wins.

1
Thenew23rd [S] 1 point ago +2 / -1

This is the situation in a nutshell. Bernie bros and Biden supporters have been at each other's throats for months. They're not all of a sudden going to sing Kumbaya.

3
4moreyears 3 points ago +3 / -0

The grumbling from Sanders die-hards is no idle threat. A whopping 12% of them voted for Trump in 2016

It is way higher than that tbh. In the beginning of the race, when it looked like it was going to be Bush vs Clinton and Trump hadn't had time to speak and prove he was a "real" candidate, Bernie seemed like the only viable "outside" option. Once it became clear Trump meant business and Bernie was a crazy Commie, a lot of Independents who were early Bernie supporters/admirers jumped to Trump.

0
Thenew23rd [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

Very good analysis. 👍👍

3

Orange man bad is not a platform.

Thus Democrats situation...very simple.

3

Are these the same dorks that were going to show up to vote in their revolution? Don’t make me lol.

3
Paul_Revere 3 points ago +3 / -0

I do expect a massive exodus from the Democratic Party.

Gosh, I'm confused. Is this supposed to be a threat?

3
Insanity_Trials 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'd wager more than 12% will go Trump this time around, they have even less to lose politically and will probably get an even more "fuck this and fuck them" mentality. I'll take it.

0
Thenew23rd [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

Absolutely agree. I have seen firsthand Biden supporters doing everything they can to attack and insult Sanders and his supporters. There's no easy way to walk back the hostility between the two camps.

3
lukeydukey6429 3 points ago +3 / -0

Watch Bernie drop out and then endorse Biden

1
Thenew23rd [S] 1 point ago +2 / -1

He probably will but that doesn't mean the bros will fall in line.

2
Deplorable_Badger 2 points ago +2 / -0

No worry. They will name Bernie the "Redistribution of Wealth" Czar on the Biden/Clinton ticket and they will flock to the polls like a bug to a light.
