Northern Italy is basically the old and poor of italy, if you have money you live closer to the Mediterranean sea, also Italy literally put a ton of old people with minor symptoms together with the ones with Major symptoms and filled the hopitals instead of telling them to self isolate, then they said oh shit our hospitals are full better stop treating the elderly entirely, that is the only reason it is so bad there.
