Has started panic buying food (because everyone else it doing it), thinks we will all be shut in our homes, thinks the USA doesn't have enough testing kits (thanks fake news), and that Canadian government run healthcare will handle a WuFlu outbreak better than the USA. Also still thinks most toilet paper is made in China (it's not).
Didn't understand the concept of mobilization of the the USA powerhouse manufacturing capabilities, or the private sector to help people rather than waiting around for the government to set things up. Or that the USA has more intensive care capabilities in our hospitals than Canada. Tried to explain that we don't have to depend on a government-run healthcare sector and that we've already taken steps to close the borders early on (which Canada has NOT done), and with that we likely at least bought time to make sure that what healthcare systems we do have won't get overwhelmed if things get worse. Roommate would rather listen to actual fake news than what I quoted from the near daily press briefings the USA has had regarding the virus.
The only way we'd all be shut in our homes is if the Canadian government healthcare system collapses, which, given that we've all had a glimpse of what happened in Italy, if, Lord forbid, there was an actual outbreak of WuFlu, would be more likely to happen than healthcare systems getting overwhelmed in the USA.
Tried to share what I've seen and heard from friends in Hong Kong, South Korea, and China, who have already dealt with the "panic" time of the virus outbreak. Roommate not interested.
Say a prayer for me, pedes. I already have a low panic/bullsh!t threshold on a good day, and it looks like that threshold is going to be tested in ways hitherto unseen.
Sorry for the rant. Sojourning north of the border has been making me appreciate the USA so much more.
Your roommate needs to relax, crack open a Molson’s and put on an old game of ice soccer.
"ice soccer" lol
Canada is the population size of California. The entire US is ten times larger then Canada, and many times larger most other first world countries. It takes skill to scale things up quickly.
It is common knowledge for anyone who chooses to educate themselves, that the Canadian medical system is already functioning at 130% and a pandemic would destroy it. We do not have enough nurses, enough beds, or enough equipment. If I was to get the coronavirus I would want to be one of the first ones so I can at least get a ventilator before the whole system collapses. Your roommate needs to read what is available in every newspaper in Canada right now. Wow people can be ignorant!
Ask him to read this article and ask him how they are going to handle a rush of sick patients https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-hospital-hallway-medicine-healthcare-beyond-capacity-1.5420434
Ive worked in the US and Canada, Canada is fucked. Their only hope is the entire country quarantines itself before it spreads
It's pretty much business as usual, aside from panic buying. The fact that the borders are still open blows my mind. Between that and being yet another country with a socialized healthcare system I can see things going from zero to Italy real quick.
Previously wrongthink
I agree. I think Trump understand this too, which is great.
I bet you guys have more cases than us. It's just Turdeau has kept testing to a minimum. If I were you I would make plans to go to USA before shit rolls down hill and take action quickly once it does
If I get sick with Cornoa I'm going to every Mosque I can before I collapse before I'll either wake up in the hospital getting treated or be dead.
Too late, we're in Canada. I am thankful each day for my US passport.
Canada failed long time ago. People are dying in the streets and live under sharia law. The debt is out of control and the economy crashed. Northern wall is overdue.
Roommate is panicking and not being cautious. Has been hanging around "sick" friends for weeks.
I don't see Canada really doing shit to stop the spread....
your friend will be wrong.
Socialized medicine kills
Canadian honestly thinks
