You gotta understand the problem is not the leatgality, it's how fast it spreads. My wife is a doctor for a one of the largest health service here in Australia. It covers 3/4 of a million people. They have about 50 ICU beds. Because that's what you need under normal conditions. Now the Chinese said that it's infectious rate is 2% I think that means that for every 100 people an infected person comes into contact with they will spread it to 2 people. (I think, Im not the doctor). What were finding out in Italy, is that the Chinese were, surprise surprise, not being entirely truthful and it's closer to 6%. Now there is no cure, so all you can do is ventilation. That means intensive care. So if it goes through a nursing home. Those beds fill pretty quick. The cats out of the bag. Now they are trying to slow the rate to a level that the health system can handle it.
